Not necessarily Utah related, but wanted to hear everyone’s thoughts on how the heisman played out this year.
Since I started this thread, I’ll give my thoughts, they echo a lot of what I’m seeing on Instagram and that is that Jeanty was robbed. I saw someone post that essentially said if you were a coach preparing for a game who are you worried about more, Travis Hunter or Ashton Jeanty? And if I’m a coach anywhere I’m probably at a loss at how to defend Jeanty, whoever drafts him will be getting a stud.

Hypesman Trophy
If Hunter played for anyone other than Deion, he probably wouldn’t have won. Then again, if Jeanty played for a P4 team, he probably would’ve won.
Hunter: 1,157 total yards receiving & rushing, 15 total TDs, 4 Interceptions, 31 tackles, 11 pass deflections
Jeanty: 2,613 total yards rushing & receiving, 30 total TDs
Jeanty would have gotten my vote.

Which one of these two players is the actual difference maker? In my view, it’s Jeanty and it’s not even close. You could even make the case that Hunter wasn’t even the best receiver in his team. However, what kind of started putting me off on Hunter is when I heard him say that “no one had ever done what he was doing this season.” Well, no…actually Travis, a guy called Roy Green that spent almost all of his career with the Cardinals did what you were doing in the NFL in the 80s…you’re going over covered ground my man…

He absolutely was robbed. Snaps are not a stat, Hunter was not the first two-way player, won’t be the last. Yet the media campaign sure wants you to believe it. I have no proof to back it up, just my own belief, but I feel like Prime greased some palms, no other explanation for his son and like-a-son to win the Unitas award and Biletnikoff award despite neither being first in their respective stats. That SJSU WR got robbed too.
It also rubs me wrong that Hunter was actively promoting himself on social media over Jeanty. Meanwhile Jeanty just let his actions on the field do all the talking.

He who laughs last, laughs best. We’ll see what type of career Hunter has. One thing is for certain. At the next level, he’s going to have to settle on either being a DB or a WR. Even Roy Green played strictly as a WR starting with his fourth NFL season.

Very true, Jeanty has the championship mindset – he turned down more money to stay in a winning culture built on tradition (paraphrasing his words). Meanwhile Hunter’s price to play in the bowl game was 5 million until he walked that back.

My guess? Hunter has an incredibly average and forgettable career.
