He just canceled his visits to UCLA and USC today, will be deciding between Utah and Arizona by the end of the week!
-
ProudUteParticipant
Yeah, I heard the same thing. I hope Atuaia can get him here in SLC. This is a position where we really need some help. I believe he is the highest ranked RB in the portal right now.
-
DWEST2410Participant
Yeah, that would be amazing if he comes to Utah! He is the #1 RB in the transfer portal.

Maybe KW can go the Gundy and Norvell route agreeing to restructure his big contract to help support the football program. He’s all about doing what’s best for the team…right?
-
Rick WalkerParticipant
This is off topic but does anyone know how that works? Literally the one rule about NIL is that it can’t come from the school so how can a team take away money from a coaches contract and give it to players?
-
highlandute7Participant
My understanding is what Gundy and Norvell did is not funding NIL but rather the schools fund once athlete’s become employees of the university. The money from the coaches goes to that fund to help pay players, facilities, etc.
Whitt should get on board with this.
-
Rick WalkerParticipant
Ah I see, that makes sense. Thank you

The Miami UteParticipant
Yeah Rick, it’s all related to the profit sharing case that the athletes won recently. Eventually, the athletes are going to receive a percentage of the gross profits that any sport makes. That money has to come from somewhere, and the likeliest place is the massive salaries that football coaches currently have. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of dynamics evidence themselves when coaches have to take a haircut to fund players.

Thus far it seems like Whitt is supporting/allowing Beck to do what he hired him to do on the offensive side of the ball. However, the true test comes next season where we will find out if Whitt will change his coaching approach and allow Beck to do his job in a way that will help the team win and not interfere. Go UTES!

If Parker commits this week, the Kool Aid is officially back on the menu.

Holladay UteParticipant
I know it. Utah needs to get this guy. It seems like he’d be a game changer for our offense w/ Beck and Dampier.
I’m trying to not get too excited about the prospects of our team w/ him though. So much better when Utah has the underdog mentality and lower expectations.

RickParticipant
Not to sound like a homer but why would any kid go to the dumpster fire that is cooking up at U of A? They clearly hired the wrong guy. He looked absolutely clueless most of the season and have a lei around his neck at the same time only made it look worse!
-
DeliParticipant
Being devil’s advocate over here, couldn’t you same the same about us being a dumpster fire last year. With that said, I think we are on a better trajectory to dousing the fire than AZ
-
UtahParticipant
Yeah, we were rough. One failure of a year out of 20…is not comparable to Arizona. Not even close.

I’d love to get Parker and then keep Woods from transferring. Those dudes plus Mitchell would give us 4 backs with a nice variety of skillsets.

Eh, ok who posted this? I think I have a bug to fix. 🙂
