Throwback Jersey Concept (MBB)

  For the start of the Alex Jensen era, I would love it if Utah introduced new uniforms this fall, and include at least one throwback to the 1996-97 team, which included the following accomplishments:
  
  – 29-4 record
  – WAC Tournament champions
  – Finished ranked No. 2 in final AP Top 25
  – Captain F Keith Van Horn named to All-America First Team
  – Coach Rick Majerus named WAC Coach of the Year
  – Advanced to NCAA Tournament Elite Eight
  – F Alex Jensen”s freshman season
  
  I’d love to know what you all think of these uniform concepts I produced.

  Yeah I really love the red one, I think that one is prob my favorite.
  
  You probably also noticed I made Utah a Jordan sponsored school instead of UA. Oh man I’d love that to be true!

    Yes you are correct on that. The Wikipedia page on the 96-97 team incorrectly lists him as being a freshman that year.
    
    I just love that 96-97 uniform. I sent these concepts to Harlan’s office, so let’s see if maybe they might be inspired by it.
    
    Utah is under contract with UA until summer 2027. Let’s hope at that point they become a Jordan school!

      Jordan brand or not, our current uniform design is not that interesting. I was actually just thinking the other day that it would be amazing to go back to the late 90’s uniform style. I was a huge Utah basketball fan while I was in high school at that time, so to me that design is iconic. I became more of a football fan while in school at the U, but I’m definitely hoping for a return to better basketball at the U again!

        Agreed. Our current uniform is kind of interesting. It’s OK because it’s not overly gaudy like our unis for most of the past decade have been (especially the ones before the current unis). I like their simplicity.
        
        On the other hand, they are bland and uninspiring. I’ve also said a zillion times I don’t like the arched UTAH type, it needs to be straightened.
        
        The throwbacks I designed here, I think, would be well received by the fan base and they would add that sizzle and a connection to the glory days that would be really nice to see at this point. They would also be very easy for UA to reproduce.
        
        So we’ll see if Harlan’s office takes me up on my suggestion, or we get the same bland threads in 25-26
