ParticipantLooks like he is now being slated as a ” hybrid” tight end/ running back.

ParticipantYes and Whitt said today he has 4.4 speed which is amazing given his size. Should be a weapon.

ParticipantWhy is this just making me think he can’t block? Honestly I don’t have a frame of reference for what the offense will be but these combo pre season hype stories make think they are hiding a deficiency.

ParticipantHunter is a beast Eagle. He doesn’t lack physicality. I know the defense isn’t happy he isn’t in the linebacker room or even the defensive end room. Believe it or not, the coaches actually involve players like Hunter in the process. He wants to be on the offensive side and Beck is enjoying scheming for a player with speed and physicality. It should be fun in the fall to see how Hunter is used.

ParticipantPhysicality means he could potentially hold. I am talking about blocking. Film will start to exist and teams will quickly figure out when it is a cover type situation vs handoff.
It became like Kuithe in a lot of these direct snaps. An absolute gimmick joke.
Probably just my gun shy attitude on offensive philosophy at Utah.

ParticipantGood point Eagle. I did note that Coach Whitt complimented his blitz protection Tuesday.

ParticipantBeck is new to me but he appears to have 2 welcomed aspects. His history seems to be tuned into making a plan around what his players can do as opposed to getting them to fit his plan. Second, he appears to be open to methods beyond the common and typical. If my impressions are right, and I don’t have much at all to go on, Beck may create an environment that Johnson and Hunter can show impact. The key, that Lud could have done better, is to use them as decoys as much as weapons so as to not be so predictable, including post snap.

ParticipantYour basis for worrying about him blocking is that he can play multiple positions? I don’t get the logic because there is none. I mean s**t. We want a guy that can block at TE to sometimes line up as a Full back and block from the backfield.

ParticipantExact same archetype as Kuithe. I love it. Earning praise from Whitt as a freshman isn’t easily done.
