I am really trying not to buy into the hype.

But. He says the right things, has the stats, same offense, looks the part behind THAT offensive line.

      Somebody help !!!!

I stil have CR PTSD. Are we safe with DD ?

      “has the stats”

Correct me if I’m wrong. Didn’t he have a 1:1 TD to Int ratio last year? That stat alone is concerning. He’s an explosive player but he needs to cut down on the turnovers or else Whitt will have him benched by conference play.

He threw for 12 TDs and had 12 INTs. In addition, his completion percentage was only in the high 50s. But, he really shined in the running game, running for almost 1200 yards and proving to be a very, very elusive customer.

I would argue that he was always playing from behind because they had a s**t defense. He had to take risks to win that he won’t have to take as much at Utah.

That’s the big one Larry – 1:1. How does he progress reading defenses and what does a high level offensive line do for him? He’ll also need to cut down on errant throws. In the scrimmage I watched he had two errant throws out of maybe 20. He also threw a possible pick at the goal line but he threw it so hard it nearly put a whole in Elijah Davis’ hands. I saw a lot of terrific reads that day and accurate passes against a strong defense.

That’s the one thing he’s commented on to insiders – the difficulty of going against the Utah defense. He loves it and, according to Coach Scalley, is getting better and better. Scalley loves and hates going against him for the same reasons. He is simply a playmaker and so often when the defense is good, Dampier still beats them; but Scalley loves the opportunity to go against a duel threat since there are a handful of them in the Big 12.

Incredible DD was only sacked five times last year….That’s crazy, at any level.

Soapbox moment: Despite CR PTSD being widespread, I have nothing but admiration for the guy. Transfers in, sits an entire year in the booth, wins the starting job, injured and has to win the job again (after losing it), loses two friends in TY and AL, then back-to-back conference titles, Teddy Bridgewaters his knee and sits a year despite everyone but the surgeon saying he was good to go, has a setback with his hand, then finally has a chance to go against ASU and blows out his knee on the second pass of the game. Never b*tched or complained.
