I’m a lifelong BYU supporter and wanted to share a fellow Cougar fan’s perspective from today’s Cougarboard. With BYU now leading the way athletically in Utah, I hope our friends in the Ute community can appreciate our excitement—and maybe cut us a little slack as the tide turns in our favor!

“I think back to the time when the yewt’s pulled a fast one and abandoned BYU when they were offered an invitation to the Pac 12, despite BYU holding out for including the yewts when the B12 originally had discussions with BYU a few decades ago. It felt like the rug had been pulled out from beneath us and that the yewt administration was doing everything in its power to step on the neck of BYU sports. It felt like we had no place to go and that all hope was lost. It was a prolonged, real concern that we were no longer going to be relevant in college sports – helped in part from those turds on the hill.

Then I remember how reports came out detailing how the yewts had actively campaigned against BYU getting an invite from the P12. I think of the broken record of playing against BYU in rivalry games. I remember the greasy, nasty way Majerkus and Krisko discussed BYU. I think of all their dirty tricks (think of the HC and their timing of snitching on a BYU player), or the urinal cakes, or the jello sacrament shots, or the swimming coach’s antics. Yes, I realize the difference between the official university actions and that of coaches and fans, but the message has been consistent from the top on down.

So when I see the discouragement from yewt fans, or the desperation from the admin over NIL, I’ll admit, it brings a smile to my face. I enjoy it. I hope it hurts for a long, long time.”

Not sure why you posted this, or why you think the tide is turning in BYUs favor.

Because there has been a lot of complaining about the resources available to BYU now, and I think you need to remember that for 23 years the shoe was on the other foot.

Amazing post 😂. I don’t make a habit of cutting people slack when they are douche bags. You made your own bed there. By the way, do you know who else thinks you are a douche bag for posting this? 90% of BYU fans that realize when you win you don’t have to talk. Don’t come on here regurgitating somebody else’s words and think BYU or even CB has your back. You stand alone, a douche bag all by yourself.

LOL, let me tell you something Phil…I’m not from Utah, so I have an East Coast perspective as to where you stand in the football pecking order. And what BYU is, figuratively speaking, is a pimple in a cow’s ass, or maybe a tick in a billy goat’s balls. In the real world, BYU didn’t exist in the past, doesn’t exist now, and won’t exist in the future. And, just like the Gulf Arabs I dealt with for long periods of my work career, you overpay for what you get and are swindled at the slightest opportunity. Sorry, but that’s the truth.

That post is exactly what I expected from a fan of that program. It’s disrespectful. If you think TDS is clean of all antics, well then the kool-aid is working. The tide hasn’t turned, but tell yourself that if it makes you feel better. This post also reeks of passive aggressively planting the seeds of hate to watch it grow. Typical

Why the need to post on our site. I hope it made you feel better. I’m not sure the tide has turned in FB. One good year and suddenly you’re the dominant team? You won last year against our third team QB who played the second half with a broken foot. $$ has bought you players that would never consider attending your school in the past. Kudos to your boosters for stepping up and footing the bill.

Obviously your to young to remember the 70s and 80s when we had to endure 20 years of grief from BYU fans. Paybacks a bitch as you stated above. You and your delusional zoobie fans can dwell on last years success all you want. Let’s see how you fare this year when the target is on your back. Your fans posing as Ute fans smeared our name on social media but the true blue colors have come out now. Just like every other conference you’ve been in it won’t take long to be the most despised in the Big12.

To be honest I find it to be amusing: some 45-year old byu fan who probably makes a decent living posting 7th grade level comments such as “cry more!”. Over and over. Or the 7th grade junior high cafeteria comments here in this post.

For fun I just checked the comments of a YouTube video where Utah was the subject of discussion. Like clockwork the byu mob showed up in the hundreds with their one-line, low IQ 6th grade comments. Every fanbase has trolls that do something similar to some degree but I swear not to the level byu fans do.

You byu fan internet warriors. You all lack self esteem. There’s seriously something wrong with your lives and your byu fandom magnifies it.

And I just can’t help but chuckle at the irony of the byu fan mob mindset that claims such human superiority while demonstrating the exact opposite.

Utah didn’t “pull a fast one” on ybu-p, when we were offered an invitation from the Pac-10. Nobody woke up one morning in mid-June 2010, and said…

Wait….WHAT? Utah’s leaving the MWC to join the Pac-10??? Really??? I did NOT see that coming!

Everybody knew the Pac-10 was interested in Utah. And everybody knew that Utah was interested in the Pac-10. Additionally, everybody knew that the Pac-10 was NOT interested in ybu-p. And their lack of interest in ybu-p had absolutely NOTHING to do with Utah, and EVERYTHING to do with ybu-p.

Furthermore, ybu-p did NOT hold out for the [Utes] when the Big 12…had discussions with [ybu-p] a few decades ago.” That’s such a myth, this is literally the very first time I’d heard some ignorant zoob ever stake this ridiculous claim. Here are the facts:

      1. Back when the Big 8 opted to expand, they only wanted Texas and Texas A&M. The only reason why Baylor and Texas Tech were added, was because the Baylor (Gov Ann Richards) and Texas Tech (Lt Gov Bob Bullock) alumni in Austin threatened to pull UT’s and A&M’s state funding if they don’t bring BU and TT along with them. Zoob nation loves to keep telling the fairy tale that Baylor was admitted to join the Big 12 in lieu of the tdS, but that’s just not true. Neither Baylor, nor Texas Tech, were substituted in over another school. There was no substitution. Only coattails. If Richards and Bullock hadn’t bullied their ways into the Big 12, the Big 8 would have only expanded to 10 teams. 10. Not 12.

      2. Back when the Big 8 opted to expand, there were no discussions between the Big 12 and ybu-p, wherein the tdS was “holding out for” Utah’s invitation. You just made that up.

      3. Utah didn’t “abandon” ybu-p by joining the Pac-12. Our joining the Pac-12 had nothing to do with ybu-p. Stop trying to make this all about you.

      4. Utah did not actively campaign to keep the tdS out of the Pac-12. We had nothing to do with your exclusion. The vote was 10-0 for Larry Scott to invite whomever he chose, and he’d chosen Utah and Colorado. Neither Utah nor Colorado had a vote. Without a vote, we couldn’t have had anything to do your failure to measure up.

      5. There was no evidence that Utah coaches snitched on a ybu player. There WAS evidence that a ybu-p football player was violating ybu-p’s Honor Code by slinking around a Las Vegas strip club however, but don’t blame US for that. That’s on HIM.

      6. UCLA never created a website about the dirtiest team in the U.S. about the University of Utah. They DID however, do so about ybu-p. Don’t project your faults onto us. Own them.

You live in a fact-free bubble where you’ll believe everything you’re told from within your in-house, self-aggrandizing propaganda machine (i.e. cougarboard). And this is obvious, as you clearly had done no research on any of the above. You only “heard stories/rumors” about them, and possibly even made some of them up on your own. And that’s why you won’t be able to refute a single thing I’d said with any corroborating articles.

Lol. We’ve damaged them so badly a season where they didn’t even have the opportunity to lose the conference championship did this to them. And they think none of the other teams can tell.

This is going to make a big 12 tenure of 6 win seasons look all the funnier in retrospect for them.

I think Utah’s defense is better in football and Utah will have the better quarterback.

Utah is just getting started in basketball and split BYU 1-1 at it’s low point.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about our admin. It’s our admin that is providing you a medical school. In the end, TDS will be just as irrelevant as they have been since 1984

The fact that the name is “Phil Mecrevis” (aka fill my crevice) tells you this dude is a troll.

The question of the day is it a Ute fan trying to stir up BYU hate, or is it a BYU fan just being a BYU fan…

Either way, while I normally try to preach tolerance of our wayward brothers to the south, the fact that I know that sentiments like these are real among BYU fans reminds me of just why it is so many people (myself included) love to see BYU lose.

I like how BYU fans forget that they were poised to jump to the Big 12 in the late 90s without Utah before New Mexico backed out and Ann Richards stepped in and got Baylor secured. BYU is playing the game – congrats. Nothing wrong with that. But don’t act like Utah pulled one on BYU when they did the exact same thing BYU was looking to do throughout the 80s and 90s.

I have been a longtime lurker and have never posted, but this is too good. I had to create an account to show my appreciation to this little zoob.

When I see posts like this, it brings a smile to my face because it reminds me how rent free we have lived in your head for so long. It shows me how much pain and mental anguish you have lived in over some dumb college sports. It tells me that if you have a bad season this year, if Utah beats you this year, if s**t hits the fan this year, or next, it will derail your entire week.

I love to see these sorts of posts because it shows me how fragile and weak you are. Please continue to post this sort of content, I need a good laugh every now and again.

There was zero chance that the Pac-12 would have taken in tds. The left leaning presidents of the universities would never have considered a conservative religious school like tds. If Utah had said “We won’t come in without tds.” They would have been left out too.

byu never qualified for the pac-12 academically. byu isn’t an AAU school which used to be a requirement to be in the PAC (if I’m remembering that correctly)

The “AAU” requirement is a “BigTen” stipulation. Not a “Pac-10” one. The Pac-10 only required a school to have a Tier-1 Research categorization. The tdS didn’t reach that pinnacle until just last year — 15-yrs too late for the Pac-10.

When Utah finally received our invitation, neither we, nor Arizona St, had achieved “AAU” status yet. Utah would get there 10-yrs later, and Arizona St 3-yrs after that. And neither Washington St, nor Oregon St, had ever reached “AAU” membership.

what you and many TDS fans fail to understand is your problem is not Utah, your problem is yourselves! your egos are massive and pride of the chain! your blinded by your arrogance and selfishness, and you adamantly demand the world to respect you, but yet haven’t done anything to deserve such respect. you want to be #1 in the state of Utah and want to be the only dominant force in the state. your mad that you have to deal with or share it with Utah. while USU plays a significant role in the state’s rivalries, the real threat to you is Utah!

huh, the UofU is named after the state for damn sake! Utah leads the football rivalry 59-33-4. BYU has a fraudulent championship from 1980 and Utah is 2-4 in NY6 bowl games and two Pac-12 titles. why do you think Utah got invited to the Pac-12? it wasn’t because you guys did anything to help Utah, Utah had two undefeated season in 04 and 08 whooping your asses twice (ok, maybe you helped us that way!) and beating Pitt 35-7 and Alabama 31-17 that earned Utah an invite to the Pac12.

Utah did it with hard work and very limited resources than BYU over two to three decades and still able to produce solid teams. Utah is known for putting players in the NFL and why recruits commit to Utah. you want to blame Utah for everything or the reason why you weren’t originally invited to a P5 conference. blame yourselves for not taking care of business.

now your taking the easy way out, taking shortcuts and using money to try and buy your wins and don’t want to work hard for it. why work hard when you can buy anything you want and win that way. that path is for losers! you think stealing players from Utah will make you happy, but in the end you still won’t be happy because you did nothing to contribute to their success! you stole it from others and will take credit for it

most players you have didn’t want to go to BYU because BYU doesn’t have a reputation for putting players in the NFL. Utah does and always has. now some Utah players have transferred to BYU, not because they wanted to be there but because BYU sold them on money and they took it. Without NIL BYU wasn’t a football or even basketball destination. they weren’t and you know that! now all of a sudden they are a destination football and basketball school, why? not because TDS is a desirable location for both sports like USCs, UCLAs, Texass, Ohio Sts, Kentuckys, North Carolinas, its because BYU lures them with money and that is all BYU has to offer other than its a Mormon faith. not disrespecting the Mormon faith, but that’s the only main reason LDS athletes would go there because it’s a Mormon school now you can add money to that equation.

No matter what BYU tries to do to significantly hurt Utah’s sports programs, they will fight through it and overcome adversity like they always have and be successful overcoming BYU’s dirty recruiting tactics. at some point BYU’s money won’t even be able to save BYU from themselves. they are showing their true colors and could ultimately be their demise

TDS will reap what they sow. Utah needs to beat them at their place this year and remind them who owns this state. TDS trying to buy their way to relevance but not going to happen
