Just Trump being Trump.  I liked the characterization of the event as “Bluster, bravado, exaggeration and a few loose facts”.

So when the guy holding the nuclear codes throws a nonsensical 77 minute temper tantrum for the whole world to see, we’re just supposed to shrug it off as “oh, that’s just Trump being Trump”?

Sorry man, there’s a growing number of us who refuse to normalize that bulls**t.

        EDITED: 77 minutes, not 90.

From my hometown newspaper here in Oregon…

Please don’t be guilty of alt-facts, it was 77 minutes. I listened to every second.

It seems to me that p**sing off people whose entire job is to dig up dirt on people might not be the best idea in the world.

But hey, what do I know?

This is the concern. That he does this so much and so often and so loudly, that by year 2 or 3, no one cares anymore and we just let trump do what trump do.

It’s sorta like the girl that marries the bad guy and hopes to change him afterward. It ain’t gonna happen. My point was expecting Trump to be different from what he was on the campaign trail is probably a poor expectation.

Trump can be Trump on his own time, not when he is President. The job is much too critical for him to do his usual nonsense.

My point was, if you expecting him to change I think you will be disappointed.  I had hopes when he was interviewing for his cabinet picks, but in the end he picked people that most expected.

Apparently Russia was mentioned in the “press conference” like 99 times. Glad they have him on record saying he hasn’t talked to any Russians or doesn’t know any of them at all.

And because their effort was such a success, the Kremlin is now reportedly interfering in the French and German elections now too.

What I found interesting in the poll that was done a few weeks ago was not only that 48% found Trump credible, but less than that found the media credible.

And in another bit of news this morning, apparently Trump is now going to deploy up to 100,000 national guardsman to round up illegal immigrants and deport them based on a draft copy of an executive order optained by the AP:

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-national-guard-immigrants_us_58a71356e4b037d17d271bcb

The militarization of the country is just beginning, if things like these are allowed to happen the “democracy” of this country will quickly circle the drain. Authorizing the military to go around the country and round up people, for any reason, is a very scary thought. At that point we’d be bordering on dictatorship levels of control.

@89Ute – Are you also excited about him restarting Keystone XL and DAPL?  And reversing Obama’s EO requiring companies to report payments to foreign entities?  So far Trump is an enviromental disaster as I knew he would be.  Do you not care that we’re selling out our children’s future?

Does immigration Trump climate change in your mind?  The statistics I’ve seen are that illegal immigration has been on a down-trend for like 8 yrs … so Trump wants to throw even more resoures at declining problem.

Based on my own opinion and what I see in some of the neighborhoods I run through, I would agree with the idea that illegal immigration is less than it was a few years ago.  Thanks Obama … not a joke, he deported more illegals than any of our recent presidents.  I think he deported 3 million over 8 years.  No one seems to be up in arms about that.   I want to see it continue.  I am 100% against illegal immigration.  I am 100% in favor of legal immigration.

As far as the pipelines, I’m for it.  I spend a lot of time behind the Capitol and up and down City Creek Canyon and the shoreline trail. I don’t like all the Chevorn signs, no, I hate them.  I hate being up in the wilderness and seeing those signs, but then I say to myself, I like the oil and gas that are passing through more than I hate the signs.

There is a lot of beautiful, pristine land that I enjoy.  I also enjoy oil.  I enjoy it even more when it does not come from the Middle East.

I don’t think Trump is doing this president thing to become richer, or make other people richer.  I think he’s genuine.  To me, that’s the difference between pro and anti Trump.  Oh, and yeah, you probably need a huge ego to step up and do this, I don’t mind his idiosyncrasies.

There are a hell of a lot of people that feel the same way I do, they just don’t want to put with bulls**t so they don’t say anything.  They walked into the booth, pulled for Trump and deny it at the dinner table and water cooler.  I suspect the same thing will happen in four years.

While I’d disagree with you on what will happen in 4 years, I’d agree that if there’s one positive effect of Trump, it will (hopefully) be that people on either side of the aisle are more apt to get out and actually vote.

The only Trump campaign promise that I agreed with was the one about the need to fix infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc). Other than that, I can’t think of anything in his platform that I agreed with. So it goes.

@89Ute – I appreciate your honest engagement on the topic.  We clearly have opposite views on oil.  So, no need to discuss further.

My Dad suggested checking out FoxNews and some of the other more conservative publications so “you can see how they think” and it’s been interesting.   FoxNews is exactly the opposite of CNN (which is what I tend to follow).  It’s amazing to me how people can watch the same press conferance and see two totally differnt outcomes.   In my mind, it was a microcosm of the nation in general.  We are divided as ever.  Maybe moreso.  While your side is cheering, my side is scared to death.  I keep thinking deep down we probably all want similar things: a healthy, prosperous nation.  But we’re so damned far apart on how to get there.

The stock market is not always an indication that things are just peachy. Investors are expecting deficit spending, which is a happy thing for the stock market. Even they aren’t foolish enough to believe that Mexico will pay for that wall.

Well, if we are going to give Trump credit for the recent stock market surge, then we also have to give Obama credit for it going from 6k to 19k during his administration.

@PDXUteFan – Part of me wants him to continue down this crazy path so at some point those spineless weazels in Congress will have clear grounds (and be forced) to start impeachment proceedings.  The other part of me says: be careful what you wish for b/c he could do some seriously scarry s**t for it to get to that level.  The question is, how much of an improvement will Pence be … if any.  Scary times 🙁

        Correct, mostly.

The Act does not apply to the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state’s governor.

But as soon as the President decides to use them for immigration they do fit under the posse comitatus act and suddenly they can’t arrest illegal immigrants.

Chaffetz working on legislation requiring future presidents to undergo physical and mental exam from Navy doctors. From the article:

Recent remarks from Chaffetz before The Washington Post editorial board left fellow lawmakers with the impression that the legislation would specifically include a requirement that presidential candidates undergo a mental health exam.

“If you’re going to have your hands on the nuclear codes, you should probably know what kind of mental state you’re in,” Chaffetz said.

      Two thoughts:

      1. Any chance we could make this retroactive?
      2. Now? Now you’re suddenly worried about this for future presidents?!
