    Yeah, he looks really good. He does not come down. He just keeps on rumbling and rumbling.
    
    And…no fumbles. It’s weird. So many fumbles in the past with Booker and Williams.

        Everyone’s wish, right? This schedule is so freaking tough. Normally, you break a schedule down into thirds or quarters…not this year. Seven of our last eight games are against teams that think they will be ranked at the end of the year. That’s insane.
        
        First three games: 3-0. There is no other acceptable answer. If we don’t go 3-0, we don’t go bowling.
        
        Next three games: Pessimist: 0-3. Realistically: 1-2. Optimist: 2-1. Bat s**t crazy: 3-0. I think we go 1-2 or 2-1. I think we lose to USC 99 out of 100 times. We should beat Arizona 75 out of 100. The key is that Stanford game. We have to take advantage of that week off while Stanford is playing ASU. If we can beat Stanford, get excited.
        
        Next three: ASU, Oregon, UCLA. I think we should beat ASU. I think the Oregon game is 50/50. I think the UCLA game is who the f**k knows. If UCLA comes in with 3-4 losses, we should win. If UCLA comes in with 0-1 losses…we could get destroyed. They have so much talent. Let’s say 2-1.
        
        Last three: Washingon, WSU and Colorado. Holy hell. What happens if we lose to Stanford, USC, UCLA and Oregon? That means we come into these games 5-4. That’s a tough three games to get one win. BUT, if we lose to USC and Oregon, we come into the game 7-2 and suddenly 2-1 seems realistic and a shot at the South Title is on the line.
        
        I think this season comes down to our last four games, like usual. Do we fall on our face, like always? We could easily end up 4-4 and end up with 5 or 6 wins.
        
        Or, we could end 2-2 and have 7-8 wins.
        
        Or, we could end 3-1 and have 8-10 wins.

  Huntley made a great read on that option play.
  
  The offense seems pretty crisp.
  
  And I like our 3rd string QB, he looked good against the 3s. (I imagine it was the 3s).
  
  And Henry-Cole, looks gritty, and explosive.

  Those should be called “Offensive Highlights” because it just showed offensive highlights for the most part. There were a bunch of defensive highlights as well (overall, I would say the defense “won”). After having been to the last two open practices, here are my general thoughts.
  
  1. There is more there offensively in this scheme, but of course the execution is not quite there. It seemed to be feast or famine. Lots of plays with lost yardage, then a play for 15 yards or more. I saw considerable improvement in the offensive execution from the first practice I saw (Fri Mar 31) to Tuesday’s scrimmage.
  
  2. As has been reported, much of the offensive woes seemed to be due to bad snaps.
  
  3. The defense seemed to live in the backfield. Even when there wasn’t a high snap, the defense often met the runner in the backfield. The blitz pickup needs some serious work, but its Spring ball. You won’t see the blitzes on Saturday in the Spring Game.
  
  4. As we expected, the offense relies on misdirection, rather than power. In the short yardage situational stuff, the o-line just does not have a push. Hopefully, the execution improves so that we aren’t relying on that o-line push like we got in the 4th quarter against USC and much of the season last year. Also, the D-Line appears very good as usual.
  
  5. Troy Taylor was screaming at the side judge for half the scrimmage complaining of pass interference that wasn’t being called. We might get some more of those in games, but the DBs looked pretty good to me overall, even with 5 route runners.
  
  6. Bateman also looked pretty good and had most of the highlights. But it was clean-up time and you could tell he was zeroing in on Hampton who kept beating his guy (I believe Greene). The one time Bateman went elswhere, it was an incompletion. Even on that last touchdown, Bateman had so much confidence in Hampton that he just sat in the pocket an waited for a chance to throw to Hampton. Even so, 3 TDs on 3 possesions, Bateman made the most of his time out there.
  
  7. I didn’t really watch the linebackers, but there seemed to be very little gained up the middle. Most of the big plays seemed to be to the edge where the offense was able to seal and the WRs blocked downfield. Or, some over the top. Like I said, not a lot of push, but more speed and misdirection from the offense.
