      “The university (of Utah) confirmed Thursday that the senior (Carrington) is in Salt Lake City and will join the Utes but is not immediately able to join the team on the field.”

      He won’t be allowed to play early in the season?

      I heard on the radio this morning that the U still needed a release from Oregon. But that may also refer to something else, like holding him out until the other matter is resolved.

      Those hurdles are related to conference and NCAA waivers and paperwork, Whittingham said, adding that he remains confident that Carrington, a graduate transfer, would be eligible and available when the Utes begin the regular season in late August.
