ParticipantIf true, that sucks. That would have him back around BYU.

ParticipantChase Hansen? Who is reporting that? And what exactly is “balls surgery”?
-
Onlyu
ParticipantHeard he hasn’t dressed this week or done much since Spring. Sports hernia…not sure why they waited until now for surgery unless he’s already had it or maybe they were seeing how it responded. Nothing too serious just a nuisance.

ParticipantOne of the pay for sites reported this in their premium area.

KeymasterFound one person tweeting about it and asked for a source. I got this:
My buddy is friends with Morgan scalleys father in law

ParticipantIt’s weird. I can’t find any video of Hansen after practice and usually fake news is debunked quickly. All I hear is silence. I don’t think we need him until Arizona. Another reason I’m glad we have a weak OOC schedule.

ParticipantScope would be 7-10 days. Open surgery 4-6 weeks so he has time. They’d likely hold him out a ton during the fall practices anyway because of his importance.

KeymasterYeah but would be nice to have him for the zoo game to inflict some punishment.
-

ParticipantI would argue that we will need him for the game against the zoobs. That game actually scares me a little.

ParticipantI keep going back and forth. I’ve watched all their “hype” videos and they show very little but some things happen a ton:
1- every handoff to a RB has the RB immediately hit.
2- their DL technique is terrible
3- tons of drops
4- when not pressured, Mangum throws a very pretty deep ball
i wonder if their OL is really as bad as they look.
I think we might blow them out.

ParticipantI’ve already thought we might lose that game, even with Hansen. Without him? I’m afraid they win comfortably by 10-24 points.

ParticipantI can’t see them beating us by more than 2 scores but I can see them beating us. I think it will come down to our secondary. Will Hansen be healthy? Is Ballard really as good as people say? Can our corners adjust and learn quickly?
BYU shouldn’t (won’t) be able to run on us. But if our secondary is still playing to their level of experience, Mangum will have a big game through the air.
And then on offense, how quickly can our guys pick up Taylor’s scheme? It’ll only be the second game of the season with game one being against North Dakota.
A lot of players need to be quick learners if we’re going to beat the zoobs.

ParticipantYou don’t run on a team and you probably can’t win either.

ParticipantI think if Carrington can keep out of trouble and play that game, you may be underestimating our potential to actually score TD’s. But I understand concern about Chase being out.
For some reason I feel less worried about tds lately.

ParticipantMe too. We have so much more talent than they do. We just put 17 kids in the NFL and we may be more talented this year.

ParticipantYou are greatly overestimating their ability to score. Our front 7 will destroy their o line.

ParticipantHe’ll play against the TDS

ParticipantThis really sucks. From what I hear he is your guys’ version of our Reyes. I was really looking forward to watching him play.
-
Tony (admin)
KeymasterYeah he’s one of the hardest hitting safeties you’ll ever see.
-
Utah
ParticipantHe is so fun to watch. A dump truck hitter and the top returning coverage safety in the PAC-12. He’s a JR but this is his last year if he’s healthy.

ironman1315
ParticipantThis is a quintessential Hansen hit.

ParticipantI’ve a friend that went to U of A who loves saying their mantra “Bear Down”, but this is all I think of when I hear him say it. Fave play of last year.

KeymasterI was there and in real time with the crowd that hit was insane. It was controversial because the refs threw the flag, but it was a legal, clean hit. It was just so brutal the refs had no choice it seems.

KeymasterI LOVE those helmets.

ParticipantI love the safety blitz in which he goes untouched and crushes Jake browning.

ParticipantWatch any video of Eric Weddle in the NFL, and then imagine a player who is quite a bit larger AND faster/quicker. That is Chase Hansen.
He is going to work himself into a 1st round draft pick this year, and is one of the top returning Safeties in the nation.
