Taylor likes to set up the pass with the rush attack. When BYU dropped into that zone I wish he made them pay more though the air I haven’t rewatched the game but he kept trying to go back to the zone read rush. In the redzone he seemed to abandon the rush. I think the overturned TD was bulls**t blown coverage by Byu so hard to fault him.
Or was it because Huntley kept calling his number? This was a problem he may view himself as ready to take that many carries but in reality he is going to be destroyed by mid season. Then the Williams lovers will get there way.
Tight ends? Are they injured or what the hell is going on? I almost wish Repp stayed on as a tight end.

One thing I loved was the coaching that went on after Huntley came off the field. Taylor is doing great things. Noticed all his gel pens someone needs to tell him about multi colored bic pen that lets you select a color.

The problem with the multicolored Bic pen is that if you have a predilection for one color over another you may find yourself running out of one color before all the rest. Your pen isnt at full strength. Then, if you needed that color to diagram a game winning play you could be in a world of hurt. I think Taylor is doing the right thing by using individual pens. That way, when one color runs out, it’s next pen up.

The offensive line needs serious work. Our run game will improve when they get more experience.

Besides the low snaps I can’t put a lot on them. We haven’t seen a false start in multiple drives so far this season.

The O-line does need some work but I think most of it is growing pains from learning a new system. We’ve been a downhill running team for the better part of the last decade and now Troy Taylor has come in and he’s trying to get the ball to the perimeter. There were maybe three of four designed runs between the tackles last night. Runs where Huntley turned around and handed the ball to Moss, no read option, just straight up big on big run it down the middle. We had good success with this in the 3rd quarter against North Dakota last week.
I felt like Troy Taylor abandoned that too early last night. We had 4th and 1 and Kyle decides to go for it. We ran a read-option and Huntley ended up handing it to Moss going laterally, which was something he rarely did last night. We lost yardage and turned it over on downs. The next drive we hand it off to Moss on 1st and 2nd downs and he gets three yards each time. Wish we would have done that a few times last night on those 3rd and short situations.
Remember, last year against byu on our last scoring drive we rode Moss for chunk yardage down the field when Joe Williams wasn’t getting it done. A few weeks later against USC we were what, 4/4 on 4th downs? We’d get into 4th and short, bring Moss in, USC knew what was coming, and they couldn’t stop it.
I’d like to see us dial up plays to our running backs a little more. Where that really helps us is it takes a little pressure off of Huntley to try to do too much.
