What’s the story on the poor long snapper play? The 3pts we gave up due to the poor punt execution was the difference in the game.
I think Troy has liabilities as a QB but he’s what Utah has right now. I feel for the kid. I hope he has a great game at SC and that we can pass protect a little better and that he stays in the pocket longer.
Coach Whitt addressed long snapping in his press conf today. Its a Long Story (pun intended), including injuries, no available schollies available for a long snapper specialist, people trying to play ohfense and special teams and not able to exclusively practice long snapping, etc.
Troy is something of a glass-half-empty story. He can make plays, just not consitently enough to get the Utes to the upper echelon of this league.
After the first option (Handlley, who had been Chase’s understudy) got hurt, yes, in a way. How many guys out of a limited number of schollies can you reserve to be exclusively a long snapper?
Ah, I somehow missed that Handley was Chase’s backup. I didn’t think he had any previous experience and was just thrown into the role. Naive on my part.
