Respect The Process

Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. My respect for Coach Andersen drops with every new episode of The Drive.

To be fair, both Andersen and Whitt came from the same school of coaching so they’re both taking from someone else’s work.

Whitt just does it better and has his players more bought into the program.

In Anderson’s defense, 70% of OSU’s starters are Sophomores or Freshmen. They have 5 true Freshmen starting and a first year QB. I would give them two years and they’ll be fine.

I don’t see how imitating a model that works is somehow that bad. Would you have more respect for him if his mantra was “respect the recruiting rating” or “embrace the chaos”, or “the quest for perfection”? Respect the process is a great mantra. If it’s what he has learned, practiced and believes in why should he not use it? He may no be as good a coach as Whitt. He likely just has different strengths and weaknesses and he is building something there. Time will tell if he has staying power if 5 years from now they are a consistent 5 win team then we know who he is. If he’s built a team that competes and has ups and downs but fluctuates between 7-10 wins then I’d say he’s probably a really good coach and OSU will have made a great hire and is lucky to have him.
Give the guy a break. So he hired a few of our guys and recruits a territory he knows really well and competes with us for guys. What do you expect him to do? He’s in Oregon competing against Nike U, Cal, Stanford, etc. He has a responsibility to do all he can to win as quickly as possible, and beating down doors in Utah is something he knows.
How many of us are really sad Kalani is gone right now? He was a good coach, but his loss can and has been filled. I am very glad Kyle runs out program, but Gary’s not a bad guy.

I hope we blow out Oregon St by 40. We’ll show them how to respect the process the right way.

I did like Kalani saying he’s learned to Coach from 2 guys Kyle Whittingham, and Gary Anderson. I also kind of wish it wasn’t edited. We all know they’re dropping f words…just let them fly. I guess I am desensitized to vulgarity. I as well hope they blowout OSU by 40.

Don’t rip him too hard. There is a really good chance that dude is Utah’s coach next year.

If GA is our next HC, we’re a perennial 5-7. I’m not sold on him as a P5 coach yet.
