I love Huntley and I don’t think we have seen his best yet, so he should be our starting QB in 2018, and rightly so. But, is there any chance Tuttle challenges him for the QB position next year? However remote the chances, how would you feel if Tuttle won the starting job in 2018? <stirs the pot> 😉

You would be an absolute idiot to assume Huntley makes it through an entire season healthy. Backup Qb will be very important that said I doubt Tuttle wins it.

Huntley in a lot of ways reminds me of Wilson. His love of contact and being the guy who makes the play. I just don’t see the coaches fixing that. Much like RG3 or other guys who are dynamic but don’t realize if they want to play they have to be smart about their hits.

Tuttle has hype but do we really think he is better? Let him get a redshirt year and play two or three after Huntley graduates. Wouldnt that be best for us?

This. Yogi Roth was talking about how important that RS year is for QB’s.

True freshmen QB’s suck. Say that 10 Times. Starting a true freshman QB means something went wrong.

Very few True FR QBs are so good that they start.  Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and JT Barrett a few years ago; Jalen Hurts last year; Jake Fromm at UGA and the QBs for Va Tech and FSU this year.  All were exceptionally good as True FR.

But most of the time a team playing a True FR either means the QB is stellar, or the rest of the QBs on the roster are not very good.

Playing a True FR QB also impacts future recruiting.  For example, we missed on Marcus Marriota by having a starting Soph QB (Wynn) and Luke Falk because we had a starting FR (Travis Wilson).

I have a view of this. Think back to 2003 QB Brett Elliott broke his wrist in game 2 vs Texas A&M soph. Alex Smith came in and the rest was history till he left after 2004 season to enter the draft. And think about he was a Jr. in 2004.

I think Huntley is a great leader too so I would not want that to happen !!!!!!!!!

You were right a few plays in 2002 sorry Just thought I would tell the story.

If I remember this correctly McBride blew Alex’ Freshman year for less than three plays.

Alex Sophomore year he came on after Elliott’s injury. And his Junior year he lead us to the Fiesta Bowl.

Am I wrong all you gurus?????
