I don’t see any of the following Utes being left off:
Huntley, Moss, Covey, Gay, Hansen, Anae and Blackmon.
You know that Bushman from BYU will be on the list. That makes eight. So who does this leave off?
A BYU QB. I thought that they would have Mangum on the list for sure. But, now I would be very surprised. I’m also a bit surprised that no Aggie will make the top ten.
Don’t count your chickens when it comes to those folks. They gotta put a zoob in the top 5 and can’t leave off their starting QB – in their minds they are Quarterback U.
The seven Ute players listed above will be on the list IMO. If one of them are left off, then I would have to call the list a total joke. None of this really matters in the long run. It’s about getting listeners. But, Utah will end up with 7 of the top ten impact players. That seems about right to me. I know BYU’s tight end will be one of the final 8 players, but I suspect no BYU QB will be listed now. I am surprised by that because they have not listed a BYU QB yet. I would have thought that Mangum would have landed about 20-25. But he is not there.
Would I have placed some Utah players higher on the list? Sure. But, I am biased and I realy don’t know a heckuva a lot about USU and not that much about BYU’s players either.
In the end – it is what happens during the season that matters. Last year for example – no one had heard of Gay. He ended up one of the top 5 impact players. Troy Williams was a top pick last year and ended up not having a huge impact. Players we do not know, will end up making a big impact. That is one fo the things so fun about college football. There is no way to predict who that might be.
