Someone please tell me why they think we should see a big change this Saturday.  I want to be excited about our team, but I am not feeling it after what we have seen to date.

Whittingham is going to demand that Taylor run the ball more.

As a total guess, if Huntley isn’t completing passes, I think we see Shelley for at least a series.

I’d guess WSU will stack the box and force us to throw. If that’s the case, Huntley better have had a miraculous improvement in 2 weeks.

I don’t see it either. Every play seems hard for our offense. Each of the position groups are making multiple mistakes. OL misses assignments, Receivers drop passes or fumble, QB on and off with decision making, accuracy and touch. TE missing blocks and dropping passes. RB solid if it’s Zack and he’s healthy. Just too many things can go wrong and they often do. And that doesn’t include play calling…

That’s a lot to fix. Too much IMO. If they do, it will have been an amazing feat and we will be celebrating a South division championship. But it’s not like we were way inexperienced and therefore expect a huge learning curve. I don’t get it. I hope the coaches do.

The good news is Whitt is great after bye weeks.

That trend has gone downward since joining Pac12.

I used to buy into this thinking, but looking at the facts, I’m not so sure he is great after bye weeks. At least not better than anyone else.

Since joining the Pac-12, Kyle is 4-5 after a bye. The four wins have come against teams that are a combined 23-26.

The last 3 years in the MWC, he did go 3-0, but it was against crappy competition (combined record of 12-24). On top of that, a couple of the wins were way too close. 2008: 13-10 over 4-8 New Mexico and 2009: 24-17 over 3-9 CSU. I would hate to see the results of those games without the extra week to prepare.

A bye week certainly can’t hurt, but I’m not counting on any Whittingham bye week magic. Just hoping we’re healthier and maybe put a little polish on this turd we call an offense.

“Two things give me hope for a win over WSU

          1. We’re coming off of a bye.

          2. I believe we are going to see a run-heavy offensive game plan. If we don’t, I’m not sure Kyle lets Troy on the plane after the game.”

          Scratch number 1 then?

@ noneyadb No. The bye week still gives us extra time to prepare, make tweaks to the offense, and get players healed up. Coming off of the bye is an advantage that gives me hope and would do so regardless of our coach’s record.

I’m hopeful because things are never as bad as they seem. Our offense has gotten out of the gates slowly, but that doesn’t mean they have to be hapless for a whole season. In our three games, they scored a lot on Weber, they struggled on the road against a pesky, motivated G5, and struggled at home against a Top 10-ish team known for its stingy defense.

We’ll be alright. Our offense will move the ball this weekend.

Let’s hope. We won’t beat WSU without a contribution from the offense.
