Sorry if it’s been asked before, but I am headed to the Sun Devils game on Nov 3. Never been before. Wondered if anyone has any must do/see things while there. Most importantly though, I am hoping to sit in or near the visitors (Utah) section. Anyone know where that is? The interwebs doesn’t seem to know when I use the google machine.

My wife and I are headed out there for the game – it will be our first time as well. We got seats behind the visitors bench. Section 29. I was blown away how cheap the seats are there, compared to Rice Eccles and other stadiums.

Been to the stadium 3 times. Once for a Pink Floyd concert, once for the Fiesta Bowl and one other time for an ASU-Arizona game (that featured a fun brawl at the end of the game after a few Wildcats players stomped on the logo at midfield to celebrate their win).
Seems that the visitor section at the rivalry game was in the Northwest corner.

My Googlage revealed that Sec 24,25 and 238 are sold to the visiting team. The visitor’s bench is on the side with sections 29,30,31.
If you’re buying in the secondary market you might aim for Sections 27,28,29 depending on your budget vs the market pricing.

Went there on an away game once, never again.
I sat behind the Utah bench but was surrounded by a younger crowd but I don’t remember being anywhere near the student section. I was heckled nearly the entire time, nearly got into a fight with the guy behind me who kept grabbing my shirt and pushing me after every ASU score and when we lost the game (the infamous missed FG in overtime)… we got harassed the whole way back to our car.
Nothing about that experience was worth repeating, lol. Oregon, Wazzu, hell – even BYU fans are more respectful.

They have some fans who don’t like to lose. The ASU-Zona game I attended, we were pretty much there as neutral fans (we were in town to visit in-laws for Thanksgiving). Zona was ahead pretty much the whole game and a few of the fans in our section were rather unhappy and were quite vocal and vulgar in expressing their displeasure.

I’ve been to a game there – I want to say 2012? So it’s been a minute since I’ve been there, but I remember thinking it needed updating. I too was heckled, which I found funny (I’m 5’3″ and female).
As far as fun things to do, hiking Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak would be one recommendation. Also, I love the Botanical Garden, but that might not be your thing.
Bars/restaurants: Mill Ave is where the kids go – I never found any reason to go down there. Hubby and I used to hang out at a sportsbar called Devil’s Advocate. Just don’t go after 10pm – it becomes more of a nightclub than a sportsbar.
Have fun!

At ASU, the whole stadium is the visitor’s section.

ASU Sun Devil Stadium has been going through a 300 million dollar renovation the last few years. It actually reduced total capacity from 70,000+ down to 55,000 mostly metal bench seating but they do have some chair back seating which is incredibly narrow and cramped.
I’m not just saying this cause I’m a Ute Fan but RES kicks the crap out of most the other stadiums in the PAC12
ASU has had 3 home games so far this season and they avg. about 50,000 fans per game.
They just lost to Colorado and have Stanford at home this week then USC on the road. If they come back home to play Utah on a 3 game losing streak my guess is 40,000 to 45,000 fans will show up to the Utah game.
I live in Gilbert AZ and have been to every Utah game at ASU since the Utes joined the PAC12. Let me tell you those first few years were really tough. ASU has incredibly obnoxious fans very zoob like but with swearing and beer.
In those first few years when Utah couldn’t compete the smack talk in the stands was endless. Even from kids who were ASU fans. The last few years haven’t been as bad simply because Utah can hold there own with any team in the conference now. Two years ago when Utah beat ASU 49-26 in Tempe most of the crowd left early so it wasn’t that bad. ASU fans tend to be a younger crowd so be prepared for the one young dumb guy full of beer and testosterone
who might get in your face.If you can stand the typical stupid Mormon slur or two you’ll be ok. Plenty of ushers and security to help if you need it.
As far as what to do while you’re here depends on what you’re into. Hiking, golf, bars and restaurants on Mill Ave in Tempe just west of the stadium or Old Town Scottsdale for the same. Both the Suns and the Coyotes are in town that weekend. If you have kids the zoo or the dolphin aquarium
