Shelly didn’t look like anything special ( in fact he looked bad) in the few reps he had against AZ.

My thought was if Tuttle was world class he would have been showcased.

Orrrr we are red shirting and he has every chance in spring and fall camp to win the job.

Except, he can play in 4 games while still redshirting so that theory doesn’t hold a lot of water.

That new rule is going to blow up a lot of programs every year.

Yup. But why would you play Tuttle early when you have a QB who has been injured a lot?

If Huntley goes down game 9, you can bring in Tuttle AND redshirt him.

There has been zero reason to play him up to this point.

And I stated this below, but Tuttle would be stupid to leave now. If he’s as good as everyone hopes, he should win the job next spring/fall. If he transfers, he wouldn’t be eligible to play at all next year.

And did he doesn’t win the job next fall, he’d be sitting anyways if he transferred and Huntley would be a SR.

There is ZERO reason for him to leave. It would be DUMB.

Tuttle would have 4 games this year to show his worth and they gave every rep to shelly.

If Tuttle was the future he would have seen time.  Just saying

Wrong. Why would you burn 4 games early? Save them for the last 4 games of the year. Save them so if Huntley misses two games you can play him AND redshirt him.

Playing Tuttle in the first half of the year should be the basis for termination. For obvious reasons. You don’t spray your ammo when single shots will do either.

You play him early because he is 3rd string and who knows if there will be opportunities later to get him playing time. With Tuttle being 3rd string, it stands to reason Shelley would be the guy if Huntley were to get injured. There is nothing to lose by playing Tuttle early in the season.
