Closest we’ve come in the last few years is 587 vs Weber St this season. I only went back the last 5 seasons and nothing above 600 in that span. Only a few above 500 even.
With the way our offense is playing though, I could see it happening soon.
I was at the Utah/AFA game in 1988 where Scott Mitchell passed for 619 yards. We still lost that game.
We had an amzing offense in those years and no defense. The joke back then was, “Why is Utah 115th in total defense?” “Because there ar only 115 D1 teams.”
around 600 yards is actually not unreasonable. If you do the math, based on last weeks production vs USC’s average yardage given up, and compare that percentage with UCLA’s average yardage given up… that puts us just a hair under 600 if I did my math correctly.
The USC number above was elevated because I just pulled the current stats and that included our curbstomping. Without our yardage they would be closer to 365 YPG.
It seems like 2 years ago Joe Williams put up three hundred and thirty something yards on his own against UCLA.
We could break 600 yards, but with our recent offenses, that is just crazy to think of.
I am really curious to see what fUCLA tries to do. USC was doing a fairly good job of taking the read and rush away from Utah. Huntley punished them though for not covering guys. Of course those bunch formations are just so good.
