Reading a lot of spin on why Utah will win…

The reality is if both UW and Utah play thier game, UW will prevail. Just a better team up and down the roster – including coaching.

Thankfully most matchups don’t go as planned.

      Keys to beating UW.

      1. Win turnover battle.

      2. Utes must start fast and take a lead into half.

      3. Win in game and half time adjustments (i.e coaching)

      4. Well timed trick play(s).  similar to the play calling vs Oregon a few years ago.

I’m hoping kwhitt doesn’t think he can win a conservative smash mouth game against UW – he will need more than that.

Are we fans due for another Mitch Wishnowsky run for a key first down? Or does UW’s kickers give Covey a shot at a run-back. Tune in tomorrow – same Bat-time, same Bat-channel! – well close.

Honestly I’d rather see Covey not attempt any returns unless it is just a terrible kick with 20 yards of open space around him.  His fumble problems are too risky in this kind of a game. One turn over could be the game and the low chance of him taking one back isn’t worth it.  He’s had something going on with his hand/wrist for weeks now which makes it more risky.

Several of the blunders on punt return are when the ball is accidentally touched by someone other than Covey.

Yup, and 3 when he didn’t secure the ball.  Add 3 more on receptions and 1 that he got lucky with bad call on the field.  Who was the laste player to put it on the ground 6 times and see the field again under Whitt?  The risk/reward with him this year is very close to 0 if not in the negative.

I think they haven’t taken away his PR duties because of all of the other great stuff he does. See Shaky Smithson he fumbled quite a few as well.
