What will the team look like next season?

On defense we lose our two great linebackers and both safeties.  That seems scary.  However, I believe that there will not be a huge drop off at LB.  We have some great players who can fill in.  I have no clue who will start at the safety positions, but I am sure Scalley has a plan.  All our defensive lineman and CBs are back.  They will have another year of experience.  In the end – I think our D may be nearly as good and possibly better next season.

Offense may be a different story.   The good news is that we will have two experienced QBs and all our wide receivers back.  We also have some young tight ends that looked very good.  We may be okay at RB.  If Moss is back – that will be an added bonus.  The problem is our offensive line.  We will have three new offensive lineman.  Our line wasn’t that good this season.  If we are worse next year – that could be scary.

We of course lose two All American kickers.  That is not good.  But, I understand that our backup FG kicker is very solid.  Not sure about our next punter.

In the end – there is a ton of potential and experience there.  The key IMO will be if some new offensive lineman step up and we find two good safeties.  If we can do that – next season could be special.

Don’t forget we have an LB transfer from Pedo state who is supposed to be very good.

It feels like we’re set up for a really good run next year. BYU early, the Washington schools are both losing major pieces like Gaskins, Minshew, and Browning (yes). Colorado and USC will be going through staff changes. UCLA will be better. Oregon State and Cal (nothing to sneeze at, but better than Stanford/Oregon). The Arizona schools… Tate might be unhappy enough to leave. ASU will be losing N’Keal Harry and Manny Wilkins.

Lots of players that have killed us the past few years are gone. If there is any year to win the whole thing with a possible CFP berth… it’s next year. Moss would be unstoppable but I wouldn’t blame him one bit for leaving.

We’re losing some of our best defensive guys. But hopefully they all do what’s best for their careers. As much as I’d love to see everyone back, it could easily be a mass exodus scenario as well.
