      Fun story.  I was not familiar with these islands.  Sometimes living that remote sounds kind of nice.

      I’m a fan of British TV Crime series.  There is one based in the Shetland Islands (not too far from the Faroes) titled strangely enough “Shetland”.  If you don’t mind wading through the accents it’s an interesting take on the islands and their culture.
