Am I seeing this wrong? Parker Van Dyke is 1 for 2 this season from the free throw line.
How does someone who’s getting 21.6 minutes per game only have one trip to the line so far this season? -
GameForAnyFussParticipant
That’s what you get when you camp out on the 3 point line and won’t go to the cup unless everyone has been escorted out of the arena first.
PVD is what he is: A decent pull up short shooter and nothing more.-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
PVD you think he would get fouled on like a rebound attempt or anything a put back attempt. Pretty shocking and shows he literally hoist up shots and gets back on defense.
-
Tony (admin)Keymaster
Maybe he’s gotten some fouls not in the bonus etc.
-
-
TheJuggernautParticipant
PVD had a couple of really nice drives to the basket, with contested finishes, in the Stanford game. One of those drives was with one minute left that gave us a two point lead.
-
CincyUteParticipant
My guess is PVD is playing the role that Larry’s asking him to play. His job clearly isn’t to pressure the opposing defense inside and free up his teammates outside.
If we could just get another 6ppg from PVD (12 ppg total, while keeping his attempts below 10 per game), I’d be extremely happy with him.

gUrthBrooksParticipant
Does he have more dunks than made free throws?
-
PlainsUteParticipant
He only has 2 oh-fensive rebounds, so BGU is pretty much on track.
Otherwise, maybe he’s invisble to referees and they either see through him or confuse him for one of the guys standing by to mop sweat from the floor. How many fouls does he have?
Timmy Allen is shooting 100% in 3-pointers, so that could be the #2 stat of the day.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Timmy Allen is the bright spot for this season. I had higher hopes for Barefield this season. His whole demeanor and how he plays just reaks of entitlement.
-
DistantuteParticipant
Is that a joke battleground? It has to be or you havent watched the games. Without Barefield this year … dear lord. Theres a rwason coach k on a few occasions this year has told him to go win the game for us. This honestly is an all time terrible take.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I didn’t say he was a bad player. I think he could be a better leader. I am a bit apathetic towards College ball. Pac12 is just bad basketball. Just awful I am not impressed that Utah is second in probably the worst basketball conference in the nation.
-
BulgieUteParticipant
“I am a bit apathetic towards college ball.” I’m confused why you post about it as your own statement suggest you have nothing to add.

This late in the year, you only get those minutes because you are doing what is asked or because there is no one else. Since there are others, clearly he is doing what is asked. The utes as a team do not hit the offensive glass. Only a few seem to have a green light to go into traffic, that, I guess, is still on the what to work on list. Jump shooters don’t collect fouls.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Depends on how you play. If you run an aggressive screen game and rub through your man to force the defender to make a decision over or under. I can think of plenty of jump shooters who get fouled on jump shots.
-
ironman1315Participant
Like Jae Criwder.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
That guy is so weird he makes contested shots better than open ones. A lot like Ingles. You give him air space to think about it he will mess it up.

Man, you guys are a bunch of dicks. I’ve been critical, but at this time, the team is enjoying some pretty nice success – maybe you guys should try enjoying it too.
PVD is playing his role, and has done some nice things this year.
Jayce (who got trashed in another thread) is playing his role and averaging 10 rebounds per game.
There is a lot of scoring on this team, not everyone needs to put up 25 ppg. Also, the team has come together and Coach K has them on track for a top 4 finish and a first day bye in the PAC 12 tourney. If that happens, I’d say K is a candidate for COY after being picked to finish 8th.
Go Utes!
-
CincyUteParticipant
What do you mean “you guys?” A lot of us agree with you.
Calling out the whole thread because of a few posters is a dick move, IMO.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Insulting anyone is wrong but yeah I will take it I am a dick. P12 basketball pretty much is in the dregs. They are a two team tournament conference and that is being generous honestly. I fully expect those two teams to be bounced out with ease.
As far as COY for Larry? Mike Hopkins will win it come on. This is a young team and it will be nice to see Allen and Gach hopefully make it to junior or senior years.
-
-
Dante GuardiParticipant
PVD does his job and does it GREAT. Jayce does his job of getting boards but he tries to do too much on offense and ends up turning the ball over a good amount of times
-
Dante GuardiParticipant
and Jayce is averaging 6.2 rebounds, not 10. LOL
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I am kind of shocked he only averages 1.7 turnovers a game. They probably go to the guy making the pass not the one who failed to catch it.
-
Dante GuardiParticipant
Yeah that is surprising cuz over this past road trip i can recall 3 TOs vs stanford and 2 vs CAL and thats just based off my memory, he probably had a couple more.

-
loyterParticipant
Ok, sorry, I was being too harsh. You guys aren’t dicks.
It just seems like a lot of trashing players going on here lately.
-
CincyUteParticipant
It’s cool, man. You’re a good dude.
-
Tony (admin)Keymaster
I’m pretty critical of Jayce, but my main gripe is coaching.
-
Puget UteParticipant
Considering what he has to work with, Larry Krystkowiak is doing a remarkable job right now.
