I agree with Scott on this in principle. Unfortunately in practice it puts the PAC 12 at a disadvantage, something Scott obviously ignores in this article.
What would be the necessary mechanisms to force the other conferences into a 9 game conference schedule and only allowing one FCS game per year?
SEC and ACC have no motivation to schedule more conference games based on their current model of success in participation in the playoffs. The NCAA isn’t going to do anything to level the playing field. Scott is playing this wrong if he wants the PAC to get into the playoffs more often.
What aggravates me the most is when Scott says crap like “The playoff isn’t the most important thing”. Of course it is. Get in the playoff consistently and pretty much all of our issues improves. Attendance. TV ratings. Revenue. All of it.
