Just finished ranking the defensive lines. Three of the top 5 DLines this year are Michigan State, Utah and Auburn.

not that we needed him in order to be special

Hmmmmm
-
Utah5410Participant
He. Like many other UT kids think the grass is greener.
-
whitlesshamParticipant
Yup, should have been a layup for Utah. Yet another swing and miss for kwhitt.
Really, really need to get better salesmen on the coaching staff.
-
RiseasUtesParticipant
Yeah, because being ranked in the top 5 shows the kids we are getting are just terrible.
-
whitlesshamParticipant
Nope, what it shows is Kwhitt is a very good coach but below average recruiter.
Imagine if he was even an average recruitier
-
AlohaUteParticipant
You do realize we’re Utah right? We have little to no history, in a state most kids know nothing about, and full of some weird religion (that I’m proudly a member of). KWhitt is a very good recruiter and it shows in the kids we are getting and the strength in the program. He’s an even better developer and coach. We are extremely fortunate to have him.
-
whitlesshamParticipant
Tufele is from West Jordan…. what else you got..
-
whitlesshamParticipant
Oh and wild guess… Tufele is mormon
-
AlohaUteParticipant
Who cares where he’s from. Stanford, USC, Bama, Washington, Clemson, UCLA, etc etc are all more attractive and/or more historic programs. Besides we shouldn’t be shocked when a kid who grows up in Utah wants to experience life in a different place.
-
-
whitlesshamParticipant
Look I get it, Kwhit has proven to be a very good in developing players. What he isn’t very good at is creating a buzz regarding the program.
Utah isn’t a “cool” place to play football and kwhitt MUST do more to change that.
By nature kwhitt is very vanilla… that’s not going to change, I get it. But what he MUST do is bring in more dynamic and worldly coaches who can attract more than solid polynesian/mormons and chip on their shoulder african americans.
As it stands now, the better ( non mormon) out of state high school recruits don’t have Utah on their radar and the top in state recruits ( typically mormon) think the Utes are boring. It’s kinda sad that a program that sends so many players to the NFL can’t create a better ” cool factor”

ya, theres no reason it should be hard to convince a 17 year old elite recruit to not want to live in LA with that weather and those women and all the perks that come with being a star at one of the biggest names in the sport in a city like that. Cant imagine how easy it would be to recruit against the blue bloods that are in cold midwest or tiny cities in the middle of nowhere in states that dont even border an ocean. I bet if you polled every 17 year old kid in the country what their top 3 cities they would chose to live in southern california would probably be number 1, but only because they have never been to salt lake before

DuhwayneParticipant
Like Stevie T, Tufele chose a lesser program for DLs for reasons many do. Playing time.
Get over him. We’re just a regular team.
-
whitlesshamParticipant
LOL, this is a TIC right?.. He chose USC… 4 and 5 stars only.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
“Regular team”
-
whitlesshamParticipant
i.e average, non discript, not bad, won’t embarrass anyone,
-
DuhwayneParticipant
Whitlessham, the fact you don’t recognize the regular team reference is all needed to establish you’re not a Utah fan. Sorry your own team is so mediocre.

Do we let Y trolls roam free here? Whittlessham?
Tony, it’s your site. People here participate at your pleasure. I don’t have a problem with ban hammers for obvious trolls.
-
PhiladelphiaUteParticipant
This isn’t cougarboard where “free speech” is held with the utmost disdain. If whitlessham wants folks here to know just how stupid and zoobish he is, why not let him?
-
DuhwayneParticipant
Well, a few reasons come to mind:
+ Recruits read the board.
+ Their parents read the board.
+ Writers and bloggers read the board.
+ I read this board.
+ Trolls pose as people they aren’t, for malicious reasons. This person is obviously a troll.
+ Troll posts get picked up by real fans when frustrated. Drop a couple of games and the voices increase.Potentially undermining the program, recruiting, the website experience, why? Free speech? False speech?

The preferred term for paces dup account is crusty sock puppet.

-
Central Coast UteParticipant
True. But if Urban does end up going there next year he will be a part of something special.
