I haven’t been since 2001 I think. It was an awful experience. I don’t enjoy Provo at all. Literally zero reasons to ever go there other than this game.
I too went in 2001 and also 2003, 2011, 2013, and 2017 along with every home game since 2002 except the 2006 game. I also went to the Vegas Bowl in 2015. I somehow attended every BYU loss except 2005 and missed each BYU win over Utah in that span.
I met my wife at a party after going to the 2001 game and haven’t witnessed a Ute loss vs BYU live since.
It’s been a great run, but I won’t be there this year. Good thing I’m not superstitious.
Last time I was there some wasted guy with a “max hall was right” shirt threatened to kill me. He got the snot beat out of him and I ended up spending the last 3 quarters of the game in the security office giving statements.
he was very obviously drunk. Slurred speech, swaying visibly while just standing there swearing at us and making death threats. I just laughed it off. A BYU fan sitting next to me told the guy to leave us alone.
I have encountered this before. It is typically what happens when they have one too many at the creamery. Usually it is that bootlegged Rum Raisin they run under the table. Guy was clearly over served…
I went in 2017. My first Holy War. Not a fan of that stadium. Those long-ass ramps. Still debating on it. Depends on when/if the MUSS gets their allotment, I guess.
Going to the game in Provo is a very hard decision for me since the downside of going and losing is greater tha the upside of going and winning. Of course I need to factor that by the fact that there is a 75% chance (my estimate) that we will win. Tough decision because I cannot stand being there if those bastards win.
