Interesting numbers RE Ludwig v top 50 defense

  So last season @ Vanderbilt Ludwig's offense averaged 6.29 yards per play and totaled 5346 on 850 plays and played 5 top 50 defenses, 4 of whom were top 30. If Utah had averaged 6.29 yards per play on it's 971 plays they'd have had a top 15 offense and a top 15 defense.

  Also, before you ask, Vandy has had poorer recruiting than Utah, particularly comparatively to the strength of the conference.

  Interesting stuff. Why do you think Utah had 121 more plays? At a 6.29 average that’s basically 2 exta average games of offense.
  
  If Utah averaged 6.29 per play they probably would have ran less plays so not necessarily a top 15 offense.
  
  Total yardage doesn’t get many coaches excited. Efficiently and points is more important to determining a top offense.
  
  6.29 ypp does get me excited when i think about how much more talented we are than Vanderbilt and how nasty or defense could be.
