      That roster was unmitigatedly stocked with NFL talent. Regardless of depth for PAC12 style competition, that team proved to me that ballers will play ball at RES. No doubt, Chris Peterson has done well at UDUB – Kicked off some talented player for violations, attitude etc, restructured the program, but Seattle is an amazingly talented, funded, and populated market. Whitt, as it appears to me, fully understood the difficulties and obstacles of moving a JV team (MWC) to to varsity team (PAC). Sugar bowl was the pivotal point biased writers could no longer write Utah doesn’t deserve… Future looks bright.

      It comes down to health and luck. That team had tons of talent and slipped through with very little injuries.  The 2015 Ute team is one of the best teams of all time but had injuries at key moments. My anticipation for 2016 is even higher I really believe ten wins is possible with a little luck….(Think Oregon St beating USC and Utah coming back to win in 2008. TCU 2008 the shanked TCU FG.).

        Agree. Who’s to say, but I think 2015 team would have beat 2008 team and would have given big fits to 2004 team.

          2016 defense has a lot of NFL talent on the team. I think two first rounders potentially with Fitts and Lotulelei. Dimick has high pick potential. Pita T is a beast. Most the defensive backs have a chance to make a roster. Marcus Williams will be a first day guy. Just on paper their is so much potential. Dline is anchored practically three deep at every position.

          Yet I still am wondering about the play calling on offense. We all know what great offensive play calling can do. 2004 season Utah had wizards on the staff. I still question Rodericks abilities. Harding is a question mark as well because we really don’t know who is calling the plays. They have huge tests this year with Washington, USC, and UCLA. Oregon will have improved defensively I believe as well.  I also really hope Williams gets his ball control together. I believe at QB they will go with the transfer over Cox. But it is nice to know we have options for potential injuries. Utah hasn’t had health at the qb position for an entire season.

          Rambling post but I am already playing the what if games in my head.  Defensively Utah will be so good.  They just need to string together that offense and score at minimum 29 a game.

            I for one, take for granted how great our defense always is. Roster turnover and changes happen at every program. Somehow Utah and tough ass defense alway exist. That’s not by chance. A year ago, I was looking forward to the 2016 team and thought with GPaul, Whitt, Fanaika all graduating the D would take a step back. Hello Lotuleilei, Fitts, Hatfield, Porter, Hansen. 2016 just needs middle of the PAC offensive production and this team could be off to the races.

            Side thought – on the offensive side, I am extremely excited for the stud Florida youngster Huntley.

              Roster turnover and coach turnover. It feels like Utah got better with Sitake leaving on defense. Less blitzing more gap assignment and scheme.
