Uteanooga replied to the topic What to expect on defense in the forum Football 1 day, 17 hours ago
Their receivers looked really good to me. Big, fast, strong.
We know their RB can be fantastic. Gundy said in his presser that they didn’t try to run through the stacked box and took what the D gave them. He also said he knows Utah will stack the box as well so we should expect a lot of passing attack.
I am hoping to see our D pressure the QB…[Read more]

Of course I am optimistic about our defense- does not mean I am certain they will shut the Cowboys down.
We are playing a good team on the road. A win here sets up a fantastic season. Such wins are hard to get.
This is the exciting part of college football!

I have seen little or no blitzing the first three games. Our defense has been pretty vanilla so far. I expect to see Barton and possibly some CB or safety blitzes. Barton is like another D end size wise and can get through a RB block.
We need to get our linebackers more involved in the game plan. Barton has not stepped up his game yet. Front…[Read more]

Alabama has only 1 true road win in the last 5 years over a team who finished ranked. That was #25 8-5 Texas in 2022. It is hard to win true road games against ranked teams (Especially teams who finish ranked)

Not if you get behind and both teams are scoring on every drive.

I totally didn’t have to look it up. Nope. Never ever never.

We discussed this last year. Until the SC game, Utah had lost on the road to every team with a winning record and beaten every team with a losing record this decade.
Simply put, it’s hard to beat good teams on the road no matter the spread.

Utah replied to the topic What do we know about OSU? in the forum Football 2 days, 2 hours ago
Only 9 teams have a worse defense than OSU. They can’t stop the run. They can’t stop the pass. They can’t run the ball.
Utah State has a better defense than OSU and Utah State has been torn apart by USC.
We should score 40.
On the other hand, our defense is ranked #20. Their scoring offense is #18.
Can they score 40 on us?
Our scori…[Read more]

I’m not respecting our opponent.
But if anyone thinks Whitt and his team aren’t…I dunno. They 100% are. Utah has a shot to take down the crowned champ of the Big 12. Make a huge statement.

Moving back to the PAC would be a disastrous decision. I would, however, consider a move to the ACC if several conditions were met.
1. Florida State and Clemson were not going anywhere. It sounds like there may be a settlement in place that makes that likely.
2. Utah is guaranteed at least one home game every year against one of Miami, Clemson,…[Read more]

I’m going to flip if Gillman tries to tackle someone with his head or shoulder again. Dude needs to come to the realization that he wasn’t born with Phocomelia of the arms.

I’ll give you two – Sione Fotu and Lander Barton. And you might hear Jonathan Hall’s name a little as well

Away games are tougher, and especially when…
(1) We’re playing our 2nd (or 3rd) consecutive game(s) on the road
(2) We’re facing a ranked teamIn 4 days, we’ll get both. We’re gonna need to play our best game. Mike Gundy had already flat out stated they’re taking this one very seriously. They are respecting their opponent. I hope we will…[Read more]

128/133 pass defense. Ball State and Middle Tennessee are barely below them. I promise you there’s always a way back. 😂

My biggest fear is that this game is a shootout and it may take Cam a couple of drives to get back in sync. If we get behind by 2 scores, there may be no way back.

Does anyone else feel like we’re a very different team in home vs away games? Most teams experience this, but maybe our spectacular home record (only 2 losses since 2018, minus the COVID season) further amplifies the difference. Usually, home advantage is worth ~3 points, but it feels more like 7-10 points in Utah’s home games. Which is ama…[Read more]
