“… Sean doesn’t usually put stuff like that out on air so I think there’s some truth..” Now this is the funniest thing I have read all week!

I’d love to be surprised by a home run OC hire. At this point though, it appears the most likely option is Bronco’s OC. Beck may be great but to me it’s just a further sign of how small Whitt’s coaching world is.
For as much success as Whitt has had, his coaching tree is a seed that never grew. Urban has people all over the country leading…[Read more]

Uncle is Devonte Christopher, Ute WR 2009-12. He was very good one.

With the transfer portal fast becoming the path for building competitive teams, the need for stripped down and streamlined offenses (and probably defenses, but we hear more about the offenses) that allow transfers to learn it quickly and execute has become more important. Are outgoing QB’s and other offensive talent going to be heading into the…[Read more]

I think he has some kind of family ties to the area IIRC. Any WR worth their salt would reconsider after seeing what happened with Dorian this year. Hopefully they can shore up OC and QB and we can start building again. Having a great RB is a good start.

I saw a picture online that was Rice Eccles in 1994 and then again in 2024, and it was disappointing to see that not much looked different. There are more bleacher seats, and the press box, but look at how a school like BYU does their game operations compared to Utah. There should be more invested there, for sure. I don’t know if you blame that on…[Read more]

Utah’s recruiting didn’t fall off though and the transfers have been nothing burgers though. We have a sky is falling scenario which I didn’t like but I haven’t seen the consequences.

It is almost as if it has very little to do with the OC or even the Head Coach (in terms of schemes and approach), and almost entirely dependent on the QB. We can certainly blame the lack of a good QB on the coaches (recruiting/development), but based on those numbers above, it seems like the play-calling and schemes are far less important that…[Read more]

Boy, has my confidence fallen so much this week. Was hoping that the worst was behind us, but that was wrong. The way the past two seasons have gone, coupled with this complete debacle of hiring an OC, is starting to sour me on the future of the program. Idk why some of you think that Utah going 0/2 on OC’s is a false narrative. They had Leftwich…[Read more]

I hadn’t seen that McNair signed at the time of my post but it wouldn’t have changed what I said.
I’m fine with people having different opinions than me or even vehemently disagreeing with my opinions as long as they’ll tell my why. It’s not my job to teach people to think the way I do and come to the same conclusions. But I can learn from…[Read more]

You’re right. I am just repeating the “striking out” narrative – that is rushing across social media, our fan base, the zoob fan base, the OK fanbase, the TT fanbase, and at lunch with my nonfan collogues. If its a false narrative – then Harlan should just say so – or tell Markham, Bartle, Furlong that the program hasn’t made any offers and is…[Read more]

Would be interesting to put the OC for each year along with the starting QB.
The years with the higher rankings I would guess are when we had a better QB.
2008 was Johnson
2019 was Huntley
2021 and 2022 were Rising -

Film Evaluation:
This guy’s a natural long strider who tracks the ball well over the shoulder and can go up and get it over defenders. Love how confidently he plucks the ball out of the air—shows great hands. One thing I’d like to see more of is how he handles press man coverage since the film mostly shows him against off coverage, and in colle…[Read more] -

You saw that Tavian McNair signed right? The very first paragraph spawns the rest of @Red conclusions.
The “striking” out narrative is literally a false narrative. In fact I would argue you are just repeating information that recruits and players are wise to.
Utah seems to be cutting the fat and preparing for an OC that isn’t so earth shatt…[Read more]

Looks like a good get. How do we convince what appears to be a good WR to come to Utah after this past season and we are currently sitting on our hands trying to figure out who the OC will be?
Looks to have all the skills but 4.52 40 isn’t really what I would call fast for a WR now days.

6-2 180 WR from California. Offers from Georgia, Oregon, ASU, BY💩 and many others. This is what 247 Greg Biggins said about Tavian back in April: “If you’re looking for a stock up receiver who just oozes upside, McNair is your guy. We first saw him at the National Preps Camp in Las Vegas before his sophomore year where he earned MVP honors and we’…[Read more]
