What do we know about OSU? Before yesterday not a single damn thing.

Great summary. From what I can tell on Reddit, OK State fans don’t trust Bowman. They are concerned about the run game and why that hasn’t been more productive. I think the key to the game with be their pass game vs our pass D. Who ever wins that battle wins the game. I think our offense is dynamic enough to score plenty on their defense.

MFury, you bring up a good point. If we can run successfully against OSU, we may do it to take time off the clock. The best defense against a high-scoring team is to keep the ball out of their hands. That is what Whitt has done his entire career. However, it appears that OSU’s weakness on defense is their ability to stop the pass. So, I don’t…[Read more]

I agree that it is tough to judge any team after only ones game against P4 talent. The odd thing is that you would think that they would run more in games like this. But, they could not get their running game going, so they passed. If OSU was always playing from behind, you could say that the passing numbers were inflated. OSU did play from…[Read more]

I think it is hard to gauge most teams, OSU and Utah included, as we don’t really know who is good or not, and games can be so crazy early in the season.
I have watched as much OSU as I have been able to. They showed a lot of heart in their comeback against Arkansas. I will say, the score in that one may be a little misleading as I think 11 of…[Read more] -

That’s not a Ludwig issue. 3rd and 7 is converted at a much higher percentage than 3rd and 10 so most coordinators will call something safe to try to get 3 or 4 yards in the hopes that there’s a missed tackle to get 7 or 8 out of it.

Yeah, but its gotten him in trouble before like totally dismissing a DUI charge for 20-year-old (Ollie Gordon), and a couple years ago he posted some pics of himself fishing in an OAN Network t-shirt that didn’t go over well with some of his players (during the George Floyd protests summer), and of course “I’m a man, I’m 40!!” viral video.

Going into the season, OSU had the leading rusher in the country in Ollie Gordon. So, you would think they are a running team. But, that has not been the case.
They have run 100 times for a meager 337 yards.
Ollie Gordon is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Rumor was that he he had hip flexer in August. He has not missed a game but he is…[Read more]

I am with you! I am bummed the P12 went away, but I don’t understand why so many of our (Utah’s) fanbase are so negative. A top 15 matchup this week is pretty rad, imo. Winner of this game becomes a solid favorite for a trip to Arlington and shot at the playoffs.
Goodluck to your Cowboys. Hoping we get a clean game without injuries, that both…[Read more] -

HAPPY GAME WEEK!
This subject again? From an original Big 12 member/outsider:
We’re all in a worse situation. We’d rather play OU and Texas than Utah and Arizona. And we know you’d rather play USC and Oregon rather than OSU and KSU. It just seems that Ute fans have been the loudest about it. All of us small market teams are eating a turd…[Read more]

The point is, there’s no evidence that TSPP has “a much larger fan base” than Utah as you’d suggested.
There is some evidence to the contrary though.

Turns out it was a refrigerator they had for beverages they have on hand for the staff and media. He went over to it and tried to move it away from the wall to get to the cord, then OSU staff helped him push it away and get the plug pulled.

Yeah I think a lot of people have been feeling this way. Could be both injury-related and now having to be QB on defense which Karene has always manned since Lander has been at Utah.

Utah rates higher because viewers want to watch Utah play reguardless of fan base. BYU is lower because nobody outside their fan base and church affiliation want to see them play. Point is their viewership is still an advantage with church affiliation.

2nd and 10 run up the gut out of the shotgun… I just don’t like his playcalling sometimes. It’s predictable. If there’s anything I look forward to when Morgan eventually takes over it’s hopefully having his own offensive philosophy and a new OC. JMO.

Nice post DB. Very well stated. Of the 17 million members worldwide they still have a number of viewers to bolster their tv audience especially if they are playing on the road against a team that has a large LDS population in that city. Tv viewing is still an advantage even if those team by church affiliation only watch a couple games a year.
