Boy, has my confidence fallen so much this week. Was hoping that the worst was behind us, but that was wrong. The way the past two seasons have gone, coupled with this complete debacle of hiring an OC, is starting to sour me on the future of the program. Idk why some of you think that Utah going 0/2 on OC’s is a false narrative. They had Leftwich…[Read more]

I hadn’t seen that McNair signed at the time of my post but it wouldn’t have changed what I said.
I’m fine with people having different opinions than me or even vehemently disagreeing with my opinions as long as they’ll tell my why. It’s not my job to teach people to think the way I do and come to the same conclusions. But I can learn from…[Read more]

You’re right. I am just repeating the “striking out” narrative – that is rushing across social media, our fan base, the zoob fan base, the OK fanbase, the TT fanbase, and at lunch with my nonfan collogues. If its a false narrative – then Harlan should just say so – or tell Markham, Bartle, Furlong that the program hasn’t made any offers and is…[Read more]

Would be interesting to put the OC for each year along with the starting QB.
The years with the higher rankings I would guess are when we had a better QB.
2008 was Johnson
2019 was Huntley
2021 and 2022 were Rising -

“The 6-foot-2 180 pound wide receiver committed to Utah in July, ultimately deciding Utah was the best fit for him as a player with his relationship with the coaches and the culture as a team.”

Film Evaluation:
This guy’s a natural long strider who tracks the ball well over the shoulder and can go up and get it over defenders. Love how confidently he plucks the ball out of the air—shows great hands. One thing I’d like to see more of is how he handles press man coverage since the film mostly shows him against off coverage, and in colle…[Read more] -

You saw that Tavian McNair signed right? The very first paragraph spawns the rest of @Red conclusions.
The “striking” out narrative is literally a false narrative. In fact I would argue you are just repeating information that recruits and players are wise to.
Utah seems to be cutting the fat and preparing for an OC that isn’t so earth shatt…[Read more]

Nice to beat out deep-pocketed schools like Oregon, Georgia, and Texas A&M. Welcome Tavian!

Looks like a good get. How do we convince what appears to be a good WR to come to Utah after this past season and we are currently sitting on our hands trying to figure out who the OC will be?
Looks to have all the skills but 4.52 40 isn’t really what I would call fast for a WR now days.

6-2 180 WR from California. Offers from Georgia, Oregon, ASU, BY💩 and many others. This is what 247 Greg Biggins said about Tavian back in April: “If you’re looking for a stock up receiver who just oozes upside, McNair is your guy. We first saw him at the National Preps Camp in Las Vegas before his sophomore year where he earned MVP honors and we’…[Read more]

seemed like a pretty reasoned analysis to me. I don’t have to agree, even though I do, but it certainly didn’t sound like he was throwing spaghetti at the wall.

Post more! But I think you are assuming a lot to come to your conclusion. I don’t think we have any basis for saying Utah struck out. In fact with the transfer portal and recruiting class being what it is I would say you are dead wrong.
But I also understand I can’t reason people out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into. So I will…[Read more]

Yes on Damuni maybe returning, along with Kenan Johnson. Here is blurb on it I lifted from SI:
“During Monday’s press conference, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham shared significant news about two key players, linebacker Levani Damuni and cornerback Kenan Johnson. Both have expressed their intention to return next season, a development that b…[Read more]

I am a run of the mill middle aged fan. I never post. I don’t follow every recruit. I have no idea about the inner workings the athletic department. The fact that as a casual fan I know that we have struck out on two OC’s is beyond concerning.
This is Kliakoff dooming the Pac-12. This is the Vikings in the 2003 draft. This is Apple in the 90s.…[Read more]

Kuithe? Really? Ok.
Travis Hunter both teams. Utah not having any defensive players on first team is kind of bullshit ngl.

Red Rhino started the topic No Trust For Whittingham on Offense in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
Though I greatly trust Whittingham for his defensive abilities, I have no trust for him with his offensive knowledge. Since Kyle came to Utah, Utah has averaged 29.9 points per game. Their average offensive ppg rank is 50th nationally since he has been at Utah. For the most part, his offenses have been incredibly boring to watch. Even in games…[Read more]

Kuithe and Spencer Fano: 1st team
Fillinger & Bouwmeester: 2nd teamSemi-surprised to that Reid did not even receive honorable mention – probably because of so many games missed due to injury.

Could be he did not want to play behind Damuni and Barton, two very good LBs. I am assuming Damuni gets a medical year.
