system works great against less talented teams. What is Franklin’s record against top 20 teams?

Ludwig was up to 1.85 with a bigger than normal buyout because Notre Dame came sniffing. In retrospect, the worst decision Utah could have made was to go all in on Kyle’s buddy instead of taking the Notre Dame cash and using it to upgrade.
Right now, potential OC’s know that Utah is desperate and will force them to pay a premium for potential…[Read more]

That maybe true, no doubt about that, BUT in Whitt’s 20 year head coaching tenure he’s gone through 10+ OCs and if you’ve followed Utah football over that span of time, most of the offenses Utah ran were pretty much the same with 10+ different OCs. You can’t tell me or anyone 10+ OCs all want to operate the same offenses year in and year out with…[Read more]

I was joking. Benedict Arnold was a traitor. Going to Texas from Oklahoma would be a traitor move.

And if he is regretting HCIW. I would be. The longer Whitt is in control and digger us deeper in a hole, the more difficult it will be for Morgan to climb out of it.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whittingham likely not retiring in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
typically, schools will fire the AD before a major coaching change since you don’t want to tie a new AD to someone they didn’t hire. And since Harlan has already handpicked Whitt’s successor, Utah’s hands are effectively tied through the end of Whitt’s and Scalley’s contracts. Any change at this point would cost 10’s of millions in buyouts and 3 firings.

I don’t think this is enough information to form opinions or conclusions. Based on my experience on this website, I feel like the reliability of a lot of these sources ends up being spotty. I also have a source that is theoretically very close to the program (I’d bet as close as whoever the sources on here are). I never post anything I get from…[Read more]

IF all these rumors are true about Whittingham not relinquishing control, refusing to retire etc., then this is reason to be massively frustrated. Especially after two mediocre years by our standards, this could really hurt our program.

I agree 100%.
This program needs rebuilding. The offense needs a complete overhaul. But, Whitt will keep the offense as it has been. He may just promote Harding to OC.
He may let Morgan voice his opinion on potential OCs. However, from what I have heard, he is in control and will not let anyone else in. Very sad IMO.

Dude is fast and would be great on receiver sweeps. Probably a good choice for a slot receiver position if he does want to come back.

Fired both coordinators and the Oklahoma Board of Regents is holding an emergency session tomorrow, ostensibly to discuss retaining Gundy and under what conditions. Not every school is willing to put up with whatever their GOAT coach wants in the face of diminishing returns.

How do we know any of the candidates were even given an offer? Just because someone looks great on paper doesn’t mean they will be the right fit. I would imagine they approach coaches much like recruiting to make sure they are a good fit for the culture.

Sound familiar?
Penn State looks nothing like the wide-open, take no prisoners offense Kotelnicki built at Kansas and Buffalo and all those championship seasons in the NCAA lower division with Lance Leipold.
The Penn State offense looks like – and I know this is going to shock you – every other offense we’ve seen from Penn State under James…

Don’t care if this offends some of you, but I think many of you Whitt apologist can come to the conclusion that as long as he’s HC at Utah, any good OCs (that are “outsiders”) still on the market will not be going to Utah. Two top failed OC hires in the last three days should confirm everything some of us already knew. Whitt’s not leaving,…[Read more]

great observation, not sure why you get downvoted. We sorely need some bulldozer back that can push the pile and get us 2-3 yards consistently. If small and quick backs work well we would have seen more Dijon Stanley

As someone who also follows the NFL, there are a lot of parallels to how Bill Belichick’s tenure ended in New England. He was allowed to “mutually walk away” but the obvious subtext is he was fired.
Harlan is Whitt’s boss, at the end of the day. No one wants to see it get ugly, but to say his hands are tied isn’t quite correct imo as he could tru…[Read more]

Agree and he has been in Texas his whole (short) career, so TT might be easier for recruiting, especially if they offer more than Utah. Hope he wasn’t expecting the $1.5M Ludwig got, but likely we lowballed and offended him.
