I have beat this drum before… Utah needs a kicking coach. Teams with great kickers have kicking coaches that know kicking and punting. Utah got lucky in the past with their kickers. They are recruiting top level kids and should expect that level of performance for the season.

The offense has deservedly faced criticism, but the STs and S&C coaching also need serious attention, and possibly a complete overhaul. We potentially could’ve won a couple more games in the last two seasons with better ST play. I’m not sure if this is a coaching issue, but things have clearly regressed. Punting was solid this year, but kickoffs w…[Read more]

Which of those 2 former Utah RBs were well under 200-lbs?
Just because a RB is as short as Moss and Jordan, that doesn’t mean he’s any good.
Utah already has a roster full of scatbacks. What we need are serviceable power backs. We’re not getting one of those with this guy.
Meh.

I mean if these rumored OC targets are true it really seems like Scalley wants to pass the ball a lot.

I’m all for recruiting talent. I’m an even bigger fan of utilizing that talent. Utah has done a good job of upgrading offensive speed over the last few classes. But most of that speed has been sitting on the bench, transferred out, or moved to defense.
2 years ago I went through the recruiting stats and listed all of the 100 times I could…[Read more]

With Jamarian Ficklin flipping from Texas State to Utah, could the new OC be Leftwich?
Fun thought, but who knows?

Here’s why:
After the 12-team CFP is set, the rest of the bowls make their selections. The Alamo Bowl has first choice among the old Pac-12 teams. (The Holiday Bowl has second choice.) The other team in the Alamo will be from the Big 12. Thus Colorado vs. TSPP.
I believe this arrangement (old Pac12 vs Big12) goes through 2025.

The PAC 12 bowls are still in contract with the PAC 12. They came to an agreement for the 2024 and 2025 that the contracts would stay in force and the “legacy” PAC 12 teams that left the conference would fill those slots. So in the Alamo instance, BYU would be the Big 12 team, and CU would be the legacy PAC 12 team. Alamo will pick first from…[Read more]
