Let’s see how ASU and the TDS fare this year with the target on their backs. I’d much rather be the underdog and fly under the radar. All the hype last year coupled with our first year in the BIG 12 made us look like pre madonnas. The hate for BYU and ASU will quickly escalate through the conference. I’m sure those games have been circled on the c…[Read more]

I mean, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility, but if I had to choose Utah or the field, I’m choosing the field. ASU, Colorado, BYU, Baylor, KSU, and Texas Tech should all be in the top half of the big 12, and we play all of them. Assuming we beat all the other 6 teams we play, and split the 6 teams above, that puts us at 9-3 and 6-3…[Read more]

Cool.
Rivals still has him as a low-rated 3-star DE though.

I was one of the biggest Erickson haters but for a couple of games when Madsen played like Erickson he play like Madsen. And that resulted in wins. Also Majerus made dudes with less talent than Erickson look like Madsen but not the new Erickson Madsen 😂 😢

This is not to disrespect Erickson, but in a Majerus-level Utah team, he’s a guy who would only see the floor during garbage time. That’s how far we’ve fallen…that a guy who’s essentially a fringe P4 MBB player gets major minutes and sometimes plays a decisive role in wins and losses.

Taking care of the basketball and free throws have been constant theme with Smith’s teams. Does he purposefully recruit players that cannot handle the ball or shoot free throws or is he developing these skill sets?

The tough thing w/ both of these players is that they lack consistency. One night, a force to be reckoned with. Another night, super pedestrian. Until one of them shows more consistency, I think you play whoever shows up to the game in attack mode.
I like both players and think they both deserve good minutes. Ausar won us the BYU game, almost…[Read more]

I think you are underselling jake. His season numbers are waaaay better than Hunter.
Not to be a broken record but it should be: Mike, Gabe, Jake, Keanu, Lawson.
Ezra off the bench and Keller has no biz on the floor unless foul trouble requires. Guards off bench is toss up but Miro should be down the list similar to Keller n -

By the numbers Mason should be taking these minutes. But that would be awkward for Craig because you know, you’re messing with family.

I said this after the TDS game as well. We wouldn’t have won that game w/out him either. He’s gotten a lot better versus last year.

Yeah man. Please log out of the app, update it if it isn’t up to date, then log back in! That should fix it for next time.

I know he gets a lot of flack on this board, but I don’t think we win that game last night without his play. That horrible pass he caught on the inbounds late in the game and his timely shots when it looked like Cincy was starting to pull away were absolutely crucial to our win. If he doesn’t catch that crappy pass, I think we would have lost…[Read more]

Did you really site 3 point attempt rate as a significant stat to support your argument?

The minutes you described, is exactly what happened last night. Why does it matter when he enters the game?
But let’s look at the Baylor game. In Dawes 19 minutes he scored 0 points, while Auser score 19 points in 27 minutes. Then let’s look back at the BYU game. Auser scored 26 points in 31 minutes and Dawes score 5 in 11 minutes. Recency bias…[Read more]

I largely agree, although one caveat, the only thing worse than lack of confidence is misplaced confidence. This is what I’m seeing with Ezra/Keanu RE Smith. For whatever reason, despite Keanu putting up really good number consistently all year, Smith just seems to not believe in him. But with Ezra, he keeps giving him the nod no matter how…[Read more]
