I agree, O’Connell is obsess with BYU. I stop listening to his show. I want till 2 to start listening to 700AM. I use not miss the earlier show (11AM-2pm)
I have no problem with someone who enjoys the loves BYU football, but he should go on the other channel.

I said this very same thing awhile back as well. 700 is home of the Utah culture obsessive personalities.

At this point, I think he would take it. When he turned it down in 2020, I think he had his heart set on becoming an NFL head coach. Five years later and I think he can see that ain’t gonna happen, so college might be his only shot to be the head man.

This is, I believe, a concept that is not understood by many. There are precious few programs with the critical mass and momentum to change coaches, replace legions and simply hit the ground running. I loved that he builds the O around the best players on the team and what they do well. That seems common sense, but was one of the frustrations I had with Lud’s offense. If it’s the same Whitt from 2023 and 2024 I’m with you. Can he allow his OC to run the offense? I have my doubts, the image of him looking indignant at Urban Meyer’s/Mike Sanford’s play calling on offense a couple times during 2004 are burned in my mind.

I love how he said he played at the “Team Down South.” That alone is encouraging that as a coach he is bought in. I am excited to see Beck’s offense and to see Whitt play as an underdog this year. I hope we are pleasantly surprised or maybe after 2024 expectations are so low that it won’t take much to be surprised next year.
