Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Big-12 after dark – Arizona at Utah is slated for 8:15 kick on ESPN in the forum Football 2 hours, 20 minutes ago
I’m old and don’t like the 8:15 start time. You can bet the ranch I’ll be there ready to go. I’ve had this game and the BYU game marked on my calendar since the schedule came out. I’m sure the players are on the same page. Cam let it be known during media day.

Why was I thinking this game was on Friday the 27th?

I have thought the same thing Tony. I haven’t seen Barton blitz yet. That was a big part of his game last before he got hurt. Maybe he has been a little precautious early until he feels 100% again.

No need for sunscreen or danger of dehydration but means getting home well past midnight.

I think Saturday told us the throw game is key. The first two drives where we tried to establish the run showed us that. It didn’t help that everyone in the country knew we were going to run it. But even still, it wasn’t until Lud let Wilson start throwing the ball that the game opened up. Cam or Wilson, it doesn’t matter. We have to open…[Read more]

Did you mean try NOT to look at ratings?

Pickle juice works.

Get out the pickle juice and mustard. I’d never heard of mustard but a couple weeks ago at my grandson Ute conference game a couple of the boys were cramping and one of the moms had mustard packets. Just when you think you’ve heard it all.

I don’t think the East/West orientation should throw off Utah too much, as they’ve played USC at the Coliseum and will know how to handle it.

Notes from the weekly Reid interview:
– He said the LB group looked good. Hall looked good.
– He was not on the sideline for the game on Saturday. (I thought that was odd.)
– He didn’t get overly nervous when the team was down 14-3.
– He thought Wilson looked good and composed himself well. He is excited for his future. He has a great…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof started the topic Have found our identity after first three games? in the forum Football 3 hours, 56 minutes ago
The age old football adage : “they haven’t found their identity yet”. 2021 was power running game , tight ends and Cam making plays with his feet. Same with 2022. 2023 with Cam out we never found our identity.
2024 after three games our identity looks like “the throw game”. We don’t have a power running game and Cam is limited with running abi…[Read more]

I don’t get how close this game is predicted to be. Oklahoma State can’t stop the pass, they can’t stop the run and they can’t run the ball.
They are literally trying to throw for 400 yards and out score you.
If you took the names off OSU and just looked at their production, we’d be looking at a 3 score win.
Teams like that don’t fare well v…[Read more]

Both teams have to play in the same weather, but I hate games where it is so crazy hot, especially on Field Turf.
This stadium is unique because it is laid out east/west instead of the normal north/south. If you are looking back west for the ball, it may be hard to see in a late afternoon game.

Seems about right. At this point in the season, OSU even with their flaws, playing at home has the edge. After three games, OSU overall is playing better, more consistent football than Utah. Defining game for Rising and Utah’s defense. Rising looked like a QB who hasn’t played for 600+ days in the last 15 minutes of the Baylor game before his…[Read more]
