The NBA works great with rookies. You invest a high round draft pick and you get them for at least 3 years. Not so in college football. You can break your back recruiting a kid from his sophomore year, get him on campus, and still lose him. What a waste of time and energy.

Nah, we are screwed. There is something rotten in the state of our athletic department and football program. We are in some deep deep shit.

I recommend you accept the changes in CFB. Does it kinda suck? Yes. But this is the new reality and continuing to hate on players for leaving for more money isn’t helpful. I mean would you leave your job if another company offered you substantially more?
I hate it, but it’s reality. You’d be better off direction your bitterness at TV execs,…[Read more]

We still have the resources where we can compete and make the playoff. Our upward trajectory has stalled but there’s no reason to think we’ll never have elite seasons again. Hopefully we can make the B1G someday in the future.

Just remember, the portal goes both ways. Yes we lost some talent, nut there is plenty of talent from other schools that are transferring too.
The portal takes and it gives. If you only focus on it’s takes, you’ll be miserable.
Also it’s the new normal and we’ll lose people every season. And so will every team. So don’t lose any sleep over it.

Don’t we want Whitt gone too? Hopefully the rumors are true 🙏🏽.
Truthfully at this point I don’t want him gone, but definitely wish he was before our OC search

The NBA salary cap keeps the league sort of competitive. How many of the past 20 years have you felt that the Jazz were competitive?
There is no way to regulate endorsement money and no sane person would take a long position on the Jazz over the Lakers.
The salary cap does help though- no doubt. A similar structure would give Utah football a…[Read more]

CU has clearly realized a big gain recently in the football landscape, however, there is no reason to believe this gain will persist longer than Sanders and there is no reason to believe he will remain in Colorado much beyond his sons eligibility. ASU has achieved AAU status but in the academic world there is a pecking order even at this level and…[Read more]

people get funny about things. This entire NIL PORTAL Circus is new to the kids. They are not yet pros in their own minds. They were recruited to colleges with the old “Tradition, loyalty, whatever” pitch. So some of this is ingrained. At least for now.
They are saying what 100 years of tradition has told them they should say. But it’ll…[Read more]

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hadn’t been taking these transfers very well. It feels like after the results of just one year, we’d effectively squandered years of hard work, and strong recruiting, and lost all our momentum. Two years ago, when there was speculation that the BigTen might expand, Utah was sitting pretty high in the catbird…[Read more]

This will be his most challenging season. He looks driven to turn things around. I like the offensive mind set. If they can patch the defense back together they should be competitive but not dominate.

“I’m about to get a bag.”
I’d prefer this level of honesty. I don’t blame a kid for leaving.
I do wish kids would stop saying I’m coming back when you’re already in the program. I think players say that when Utah has upped their NIl. But don’t say that until the portal window is closed maybe? The pump fake gets us bitt hurt.

Yeah, the zoobs might have been encouraged by another season-ending injury to Cam Rising, and are believing they’d successfully “wished-it-into-fruition”, and had decided to give it another go by hoping Whittingham elects to step down.

That’s tough. I must admit that Utah sports has been the biggest rif in my nearly 50 years of marriage. But, it did not come to divorce.
Best wishes as you start over!
