I think I agree with Miami. I have to take emotion out of this during the off season and just be a realist. Money and the lack of rules has killed this sport. Kids getting paid and maximizing there eligibility is great. But, the lack of rules and structure is killing the sport. I will still be there to support in the fall. But when guys sign and…[Read more]

I also believe there is a lot of shady stuff going on behind the scenes from other schools taking our players, especially that school down south. that school wants to destroy Utah’s program and I believe will steal our players before they go anywhere else to pouch players. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at BYU.

not sure it’s worth it. Doggy dogg world out there where there is no loyalty anymore, and these players who once proudly claimed they were committed apparently had a sudden change of heart. The portal and NIL have ruined and are destroying college football to a point its not worth the time and effort to care anymore. For example, BYU paid a…[Read more]

Hopefully, but naked eye can’t see the potential right now based on UNLV performance or recruiting profile.
The problem with Whitt’s coaching network is that it is small and Utah bound. It rarely includes a guy with reaches into major recruiting areas. Dennis Erickson was one of those exceptions. Beck, Detmer and Atuaia are just 3 more BYU guy…[Read more]

Money not culture or development matter. Recruiting pitch “ we have more money “. Changes are coming with Alabama and Ole Miss getting left out of the CFP. Super league is inevitable.

Utah needs to find a mega donor or it’s going to continue to be a feeder school for other programs including byu which would be an absolute disaster for the program if they even compete in their own state and conference

Are some of these players just going in to use it as leverage to negotiate a better deal here?

I agree JGore but he is from their backyard (within the bubble). Pressure from the LDS fans. We lost the other American Fork kid also. They have to get those recruits to be successful. We have a much bigger recruiting footprint.

Fancy a small Pick ‘Em contest with the CFP quarterfinal games? Could throw in some other bowls as well.

Maybe his running style fits the new offense. When is the last time we had a freshman running back contribute immediately besides #22. Hopefully Beck will adapt the offense to the RB strengths instead of their weaknesses.

Normally I don’t get too up in arms over these things, but there’s some issues that make this Clegg flip-flop pretty infuriating.
When Provo loses prominent LDS recruits to Utah, their fans have the flippant attitude of “Oh well, we’ll just continue to recruit him while he’s on his mission”, and while they can’t come out and say it, Provo’s coach…[Read more]

Hard to tell what impact Clegg will have on both schools. I’ll take Fano and Dailey (BYU flips) over Clegg. Sounds like he wants the BYU experience. Some want to stay living in the bubble and some want to get out of the bubble. I don’t think money has anything to do with it.

Atuaia is recruiting RB like he is still at Wazzu. In fact, he recruited Green when he was at Wazzu.
Have to level up. Green hasn’t shown anything to warrant a spot on our roster.
Our RB room still has a ways to go.

Sending southern teams to play in 15-20 degree weather is a huge advantage for the home team.

This smacks of truth.
Utah pushed above its weight for years and now is going to have to learn to succeed within the new rules. It does not look like an easy path.

Uteanooga replied to the topic Needs to be an NIL Regulatory Office in the forum Football 2 weeks, 5 days ago
The courts ruled that the previous NIL restrictions were illegal. It is simple. There was no plan just the courts making a ruling.
That is why it looks like chaos.
Bellyache and bitch if it makes you feel better or rail against the judicial system.

I’m not so confident this was a 100% money decision. Since he committed, we got worse (remember that class we got literally every recruit we competed with BYU for and had our highest rated class ever), and BYU has pulled over Jay Hill. Still could’ve been a money thing but this isn’t the most surprising thing to happen after this past season.
