Examined? Analyzed? Fired? We’re doing something wrong to have nearly two years of having half or more of our talented defensive players out with injuries. Or is it the turf at the practice facility?
Seriously something needs to be addressed. Heads need to roll…. or something. I know they tried the “NFL” way of doing their S&C this season, but…[Read more]

I have it figured out almost as well as someone that sees a problem and does nothing about it because it could occur again in the future.
Next time you get a nail through your tire just throw your hands up in the air knowing that nothing you can do will clear all the nails off the road.

Seems like not good statistics.

The upside of firing Whitt now would be the ability to move on and demand firing someone else when the team loses future games. That would be a huge upgrade.
Unless of course, the next coach never loses- then you can be happy. You have thought this out well.

I get that we’re all disappointed with how Cam played (rightly so) and disappointed that the coaches left him in (rightly so) after previously being disappointed that the coaches weren’t playing him.
And there’s blame to go on the defense (especially the rush defense, which was gashed by both Arizona and Arizona St).
But the biggest issue is…[Read more]

Ute Dub started the topic Not Utah Football in the forum Football 3 months ago
On AZ State’s first TD Lander Barton has the QB in the open field, well behind the LOS and doesn’t break down, over persues, loses contain, and gets beat on both a 3rd down and a 4th down which could have been easy sacks. It’s just not Utah football to get beat twice the same way with unsound tackling fundamentals. I’m not used to it as a Utah fa…[Read more]

Haha I can’t sleep. No worries man. I have no criticism for people who weren’t confident in tonight and thought this might be the outcome. No issues w/ people having lower expectations. It helps me temper my optimism. I wasn’t loving (and still don’t love) the Cam hate or the calls to fire Whitt. But hey, everyone is entitled to their…[Read more]

He has made some big mistakes in the last couple of years (although we don’t know everything that happened behind the scenes). And he has yet to prove that he can lead a #1 team in the conference (great as the hunter, not as the hunted). But…
It’s also been a unique 1-2 years w/ all the injuries. How many coaches could digest the amount of…[Read more]

No, that’s not quite what I’m saying.
1) Cam Rising has the right and my complete endorsement to continue at Utah until his eligibility is complete or he decides to hang it up. I’m unequivocal on that. at the same time,
2) Kyle Whittingham (the head coach) and Andy Ludwig (Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach) are responsible to have plans B, C,…[Read more]

okay, one of us has to go to bed first 🙂
I don’t ever call anyone out specifically, even though it may seem so based on which post I reply to. I see something I want to respond to and it’s the premise, not the person. And the first sentence from the OP was definitely something that struck a nerve. If you feel you caught some shrapnel or…[Read more]

If what you were saying ever since 2023 was that we should move on from Cam Rising b/c he’s too injury prone, he won’t come back the same player, etc. then I would say that’s a very reasonable thing to say at any point in time (back then or now). Personally, I still don’t think they made the wrong decision to keep him in the program. Knowing our…[Read more]

This team, for whatever reason, lacks chemistry. However that is just part of the problem.
I’m a Whit apologist and I’ve never back away from being such. But tonight (all year), we saw:
A safety who after 5 games still hasn’t learned to tackle. Seriously dude, you have two arms, use them. A 180 lb safety hitting a 220 RB is NOT going to cause…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Did fans and the media factor into their decision to go w/ Cam? in the forum Football 3 months ago
I think it’s fair to say he thought he gave the team the best chance to win. That’s what competitors think about themselves. And given the criticism that’s been directed his way, I can see how he’d have extra motivation to stay on the field. I don’t fault him for wanting to play. The coaches needed to make the right decision for the team and…[Read more]

Absolutely.
Have you considered that keeping that decision a secret had no benefit to anyone in the moment? He was waiting to see his draft grade and it got folded into “will he, won’t he play against Penn State”. Once he got a UDFA grade, he played it up. Penn State didn’t seem fazed by him playing. And the last two years of the Ute QB…[Read more]
