Any competitive advantage they’ve gotten from the secrecy has more than backfired on them. They proved that tonight.

I edited above but thanks for the info. Kinda feels like grasping at straws to replace an existing coach with this guy though since you can only have 10. Someone would have to get fired for him to call plays

He can hold practice in the basement of the pentagon next to the alien bodies and give press statements through dead drops in a cipher for all I care. The product on the field is all that matters. If we were good all of this is just noise.
However, it is real. And I believe it’s taking a toll on our team culture.

I work with some byu fans and have some family members that are good byu fans.
But we all know they have a good portion of their fambase that is trash.
I’m sure they will point out some of our obnoxious fans and sure enough we have them. But we admit we have them. Rarely do byu fans admit they have them – and far more than they realize.
But…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot started the topic Scally's last second play calls in the forum Football 3 months ago
I don’t think the last second play calling is working any longer. Honestly I think our opponents are using it to their advantage. Several times a game the D-line is looking over to the side of the field when the ball is snapped and quite frankly that is giving the advantage to the O line just in reaction time alone.
There were several big plays…[Read more]

If you saw the game, he’s the bald Armenian dude with the glasses that was sitting with Cam in the sidelines. He’s Utah’s Senior Offensive Analyst/Quarterbacks coach and used to be the OC a5 Northwestern.

I don’t know who that is but it cant be worse than lining kuithe behind center and a one legged, one armed rising in the slot in the red zone.

I guess people just don’t have the same willpower that both you and I do in that regard. I don’t know what to tell you other than I agree that it’s disappointing.

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Did fans and the media factor into their decision to go w/ Cam? in the forum Football 3 months ago
This is the kind of thing that causes you to lose the locker room and fan support. It goes w/out saying how poorly they’ve communicated the injury situations w/ Cam. But to do what they did tonight sends a horrible message to Isaac Wilson, the rest of the team, all our fans, and even Cam Rising. Cam was playing w/ half an arm and half a leg!…[Read more]

I’ve been saying for years that Whitt has earned the right to go 8-4/9-3 until he decides to hang it up. He should never be unceremoniously shown the door because that level of performance is no longer acceptable to the Utah fanbase.
At the same time, I worry that his stature with the school has reached Paterno levels (Sandusky scandal…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Do we have a head coach problem? in the forum Football 3 months ago
He’ll be 65 in November. He isn’t a young man any more. If I were him I’d retire but maybe he wants to stick around to prove his detractors wrong. That being said, it sure would be a damned shame if he overstayed and that ended tarnishing his legacy. He’s on contract for three more seasons after this one so it’s definitely something to think about.

quagmire replied to the topic Cam Appreciation in the forum Football 3 months ago
I’ve been frustrated as much as anyone with cam. We all wanted him play through injuries and he did that tonight…to the detriment of the team.
But he’s back in my good graces. Now go retire and enjoy the nil money you got and deserved. Once a Ute, always a Ute.

I don’t understand it to be honest. When you have nutritionists and strength/conditioning coaches, and when you exercise a lot, it’s easy to lose weight and build muscle/speed. Not to mention that with his weight and level of activity (assuming he pushes himself in the offseason), his maintenance calories is probably 4000-4500 calories. It’s SIGNI…[Read more]

Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic Did fans and the media factor into their decision to go w/ Cam? in the forum Football 3 months ago
All I can say is sometimes as a head coach you need to do what is best for the team. After Cam got rolled up and couldn’t plant his right foot to throw, that combined with the issue with his throwing hand and two first half interceptions should have made the choice to pull him and easy one.
I don’t question Cams toughness or his willingness to…[Read more]

Not only that, but it’s a risk to Cam’s physical health in the future long after football is over.
