Yeah I love Cam, he has given his heart and sole to this team and love that he stayed to have what could have been a huge year for him and the program. I wish Cam would have thrown the ball away sooner, kneeled down, slid, anything besides putting himself in that position to be shoved into the gatorade cooler. I feel for him, he was excited for…[Read more]

They need to do analytics to see if the non analytics are working better than the analytics. Really to me it comes down to situational football. Do you have the personnel and play calling ability to succeed in certain situations.

I can’t argue with MB being our toughest back. I would rather roll the dice with him more than the others. Lohner and Stanley are dead ringers for certain plays. I don’t know the answers but after 5 games something needs to change. Maybe fake the run and let Wilson roll out with a pass run option or shotgun with Kuithe? Maybe Pepe’s version of re…[Read more]

Whatever gets you the most money, Tony. I personally would support a method that allows me to pay via credit card, since that’s how I track all of my expenses.

Like many others I have been a fan for my whole life. I remember being able to get excited for games even when we had little to no chance to win. I remember losing to BYU time after time again and still being excited for next year.
This season, the one where it was suggested we had our best and deepest roster ever had me as excited as I had…[Read more]

When we had to close out the OK St game and they knew what was coming, MB got the tough yards. Getting short yards might be helped with size, but it’s better to find a crease in the wall and hit it quick than slam into the wall.
Put your best back on the field, who also doesn’t have to tip your play.
As long as Lud can go back to using MB in the…[Read more]

Andy you’re not alone. I think we all are frustrated. I really thought this might be our best team and chance to make the playoffs. Cam is the key to our success and the additions of Singer and Kuithe made the offense dangerous. A freak accident (why couldn’t be the left hand) has put serious doubt on Cams ability to be 100% the rest of the yea…[Read more]

I think a lot of fans are in the same boat. I know I am. Last year was the first time I’ve ever not enjoyed Utah football and this year is starting to feel the same. I’m ready to move on from Cam and I’ve lowered my expectations to a 8-4 or 7-5 type season. Honestly, the only game I really want Utah to win is the game on November 9th. Everything…[Read more]

I would respectfully disagree. Arizona knew what was coming because of Ludwig’s tendencies. Matt Patton on Twitter had some excellent breakdown of the play calling tendencies. If Mike Mitchell is in the game it is either a run up the middle or consistently to one side. Same for Bernard. He essentially showed that you can ignore the TEs in those s…[Read more]

I agree yerg with Mitchell coming in on short yardage. The other team knows what’s coming. Seems faking it to Mitchell and using him as decoy might be an option equal to or better than using MB as a decoy.
I still prefer a bigger back in our case maybe a tight end in shotgun. Rising was effective faking the handoff and getting 1 or 2 yrds with h…[Read more]

AN HONEST ASSESSMENT ABOUT ANALYTICS AND IT’S RELEVANCE TO THE GAME
LOOK, the genius of football is that it is a very simple game. You run. You throw. You execute or you don’t.
Your speed, it’s either faster or slower. You jump higher or lower. You are stronger or less. You react quicker or not. Your technique is better or worse. These are…[Read more] -

I don’t know about you guys but i’m honestly starting to lose my fandom. I’ve been a die hard Ute my entire life, worked with the team, I have an entire basement man-cave dedicated to Utah Utes. But as the 2023 season wore on and the idea of Rising being a game time decision for 6 straight weeks after what could have been a special season I…[Read more]

Soon I’ll be starting up the annual Ute Hub fundraiser to help cover costs of operating the site. For the past couple of years I’ve been doing two options: 1 GoFundMe and 2 Venmo.
I’m wondering if anyone has any preferences or better ideas? Venmo is cool but GoFundMe takes a percentage of each transaction, which sucks. Paypal is also another…[Read more]

Even after a bye week we have a top 15 RB in CFB averaging over 6 ypc. When MB is in the backfield defenses don’t know run/pass.
The problem with short yardage situations is Lud brings in Mitchell and runs him between tackles every time. Defenses know what we are going to do given the personnel on the field and they load the line.
Even if we h…[Read more]

If this team doesn’t come out focused and angry on Friday, then we have serious motivational issues. Arizona played angry and with a purpose last week coming off their embarrassment at Kansas State. We need to see this from our guys this weekend. Go Utes!!

#2 is what cost us the AZ game. We saw a lack of set plays for Wilson and a lack of running plays. We expected Wilson to pick apart their secondary using his reads, but he was being blitzed all game long. He clearly wasn’t ready and the receivers weren’t getting open.
If Wilson is the starter, he should be getting all the reps this week and…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Speaking of Analytics in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m a little confused on analytics. Can someone explain. So if it’s fourth and 1 on the 10 yard line your chances are better to get the first down and possible touchdown than kick a field goal based on the results of thousands of similar situations. Not taking in to account personnel on either team. Is that correct?

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic OnlyU in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Going by Onlyu observation Cam must have been cleared to play but unable to grip the ball properly and throw it with velocity and accuracy. He doesn’t want to hurt the team and Wilson gives them a better chance to win. Is that considered analytics or just analysis?

Utah5410 replied to the topic Will the ASU game make or break this season? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Breaking point. Issac has shown he is capable of winning a game like this. ASU is fine. Not great. Better than last year. Yes. But not special. If we can contain there running back we should be fine.
After that TCU at home I like our chances then Houston then BYE.The last 4 games are brutal.
