Appreciate you, brother. We are all going through this mental gymnastics battle together. Go Utes!

  • It already happens in every sports video game where the computer plays one of the teams.

  • Edited for realism:

Whit: “OK. Who’s flipping the coin?” “Is that you, Cam”?
Cam: “Right, Coach. Got it right here.”
    Whit: “OK, what’d you got?”

The coin lands on his palm, shattering his metacarpals.

Cam: “Heads, Coach”. Heads was FG.”
Whit: “Do it again. We’ll go 2 out of 3!”
Cam: “You got it, Coach. Double Tails.”
Whit: “Signal that in, Lu…[Read more]

  • I’m in agreement on the incentives from a theoretical POV but I worry that in reality, it will be used as a cudgel to break the contracts. And, to be clear, I would love to see a model that works for everyone. I’m just not smart enough to see it right now.

Imagine a scenario where the QB’s incentive structure is based on pass attempts. The…[Read more]

It was the analytics post that got me thinking about it. We are using analytics already to determine whether we go for it on 4th down, why not use artificial intelligence to tell you what play you should call in that situation. It would sure beat 4 runs up the middle to only get stuffed on 4th down.

We have to have some data science majors or…[Read more]

Seems like the analytics would approve this idea.

Game day before the Ok st game reported that Cam had a setback Wednesday at practice and was questionable to start. Remember the betting line dropped 5 points that same day (wed). YMaybe he reinjured it at practice or the setback was he couldn’t throw well enough to start. I don’t why it has to be such a secret.

Do you think Ludwig could be replaced with Artificial Intelligence. There has to be a ton of data sets out there that an algorithm could use to determine the right play call based on the down and distance. It could take into account the team and opponents tendencies. It could rely on data from practices, scrimmages, and games. The algorithm could…[Read more]

  • That was JoePa’s blind spot…he definitely stayed well beyond his expiration date. Can you believe that JoePa was a month shy of being 85 when he coached his last game at Penn State? I mean, who does that?

  • Professional golfers have a lot of performance based revenue. Also many of their sponsor require them to play in x number of events per season. I know other sports like the NFL do bonuses and such for sacks and interceptions and stuff like that. NIL is the wild west though.

  • As it turns out a bit more light is now available on the ‘The Data Analytics’ our coaches use.

Whit: “Alright, what do you think? Go or chip shot FG.”
    Lud: “What are the analytics?”
Whit: “OK. Who’s flipping the coin?” “Is that you, Cam”?
Cam: “Right, Coach. Got it right here.”

  • Cam would be working at burger king

  • We just need a contract system already where players can sign contracts with incentives like the NFL since it’s gonna happen sooner or later whether you like it or not.

I don’t believe that would fix the problem. No one can tell Patrick Mahomes when or how often he wants to put his name on something for compensation outside of his contract w…[Read more]

  • If two conferences losses is considered a deal breaker for CCG, then every game is now make or break. All winning this week does is put the same emphasis on next week’s game. Starting next week, it becomes rinse and repeat until the season ends or the math works for a 3 loss team to get into the CCG.

  • don’t hang around so long that someone eventually figures out that sandusky has been taking liberties in the showers though.,,

  • Loosie, you got some ‘splainin’ to do

  • The problem isn’t the type of injury since pretty much everything has a known standard range at this point. If he who shall not be named until he throws a pass in a game again was a pro, he’d have been immediately put on the injured list for 4-6 weeks to clear a roster spot.

Instead it’s all been subterfuge and half-truths so that the injury is…[Read more]

  • It should be “you’ll get X amount for committing to the program, and then X amount for each game you play in, each TD you score, each sack you get etc…”. I’m not suggesting that anyone is milking the system, but I’m not NOT suggesting that.

Despite being well informed in the program he also said Cam was all but heal in June of ’23. The gamesmanship of Whitt is pretty much in the realm of outright deception, even toward our own.
