This is another version of the saying “it doesn’t matter who does the voting but who does the counting.” In essence, it doesn’t matter whether Utah fires Whitt if the guy selecting the new HC is incompetent. I’ve seen nothing from Harlan that gives me confidence that he’ll select the right person if Utah decides to also move away from Scalley.

I think what will happen is offensive recruits will probably be apprehensive about signing without knowing who the coach or what the scheme will be. We’ll get a new OC and he’ll have to plug and play through the portal while we recruit the athletes for his system.

I mean, this seems like how it works everywhere else now.

You’ve hit the nail with that one. Harlan has already hired the next coach. The only thing we are really discussing should be timing. If Scalley doesn’t work out, then you change the AD and let the new guy hire Scalley’s replacement.

You may see some not sign during the early period if they perceive, or are told, that there is a pending HC change. The main problem they will be facing is whether there are still landing spots for them elsewhere. Yeah I was going to say, reading between the lines seems like Harlan is meddling with the collectives and how the coaching staff sees NIL allotments (I know they can’t be involved directly but certainly give their opinion to the collectives)

Harlan wrote the most recent deal with Whittingham. I do not believe that at all. I think Harlan is meddling with Player deals. Which has lead to the problem.

Without saying too much. I can confirm there is some disagreements between many coaches along with Whitt and Harlan. Players all get along, but not all players like some of the coaching and Harlan trying to meddle. Personally I think it starts at the top, get rid of Harlan and things will get back on track.
