The Covid years made it really really hard to evaluate QB talent.

Maybe some forgot because it has been a while playing in Logan, but for eons we have had tough games there. I believe they really get up to play Utah and the Y and seem to make it a game most the time in Logan even with a big gap between us and them.

He seemed like a good dude, but both he and Costelli seem like athlete projects that teams thought they could mold into QBs. Utah specifically in both cases. I wish him well, but last season ended any debate I had whether his future was at QB. It’s clearly not. He would’ve been wise to hang around here and switch positions.

  • Agreed. Bernard is looking good and has been healthy, but Mitchell is already playing hurt. That leaves only Stanley as a scholarship RB, but he’s very light. At the very least when Stanley is in the game, they should consider doing some tosses to the outside to get him to the perimeter instead of just sweeps that are very predictable, but of c…[Read more]

I mean, assuming that we have a pretty large advantage on a player to player basis, shouldn’t we have been able to overcome that anyway?

  • 1 carry and 1 reception while Vanderbilt’s QB1 was throwing for ~ 50% against a G5. I’m almost tempted to go count all the downvotes I got for saying the kid’s future wasn’t at QB long before the 2023 season.

  • My prediction was 10-2 before the season started. I’m sticking with it. I think they lose to @ OSU and @ UCF.

  • That’s the story that was given and we have no reason to believe it’s not true. RB’s take a beating, especially when you’re a bellcow like JJ. Plus, his family is, from what I’ve heard, not very wealthy. I’m guessing that when he saw all the injuries on our team last year and he himself was playing hurt, he decided the bag at Arkansas was the bet…[Read more]

  • What was your prediction before the season started, and has it changed for better / worse, or just stayed the same after 3 games?

  • Miles E. replied to the topic Help me feel better in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago

I’m not sure our defense is better than last year even considering all the injuries. I underestimated the loss of our two stud safety’s from last year. USU had a lot of open receivers. We’re lucky Barnes sailed a lot of his deep throws.

  • Neither did I when I was trying to find out where Wilmore went after USU – apparently it’s a small religious NAIA school in Surprise, Arizona.

Thank you 2008. That explains the lack of aggression from that position the first three games. I hope that they settle on some sort of hybrid. Barton should be our biggest playmaker on defense.

  • Whittingham said because Barnes knew a lot of Utah’s defensive schemes coming into the game, defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley and the defensive staff schemed up a different look to present something different. But it was apparent that Utah needed to return to its base defensive set.

“Bryson Barnes knows our defense inside and out, and so…[Read more]

Wow, I turned this game off because I thought TCU would run away with it. Guess I better watch the highlights. As for why they ran the ball, their best weapons on offense are their RB’s. They have the best RB corp in the big 12 imo.

TCU misses a 58 yard FG wide right and looses by 1. I guess UCF could have used an extra run or two so TCU couldn’t get a change to try and score at the end.

  • Charlie Foxtrot replied to the topic UCF/TCU in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago

Yes they did, but they left 36 seconds on the clock and now TCU is in field goal range, so what the hell do I know? lol

didn’t they just get the TD to go ahead? seems like their plan worked

  • RoboUte replied to the topic Rising's Hand in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago

Cam leaves it all of the field. And forgets he left it there. And yells for his wife to help him find it. And she yells back “did you leave it one the field it again?”. He grunts and goes to check the field and finds it. Not wanting to face his wife he goes to dennys and home depot for the rest of the day.

  • Scalley has gone away from having his LB’s shoot the gaps so they are making their first contact after the RB/QB has already gained a couple of yards. In theory, it limits the big play but it also limits the game changing hits in the backfield we were used to with Hansen, C. Barton, Bernard, Lloyd and Sewell.

Whether that is a product of…[Read more]
