  • I’d have to see some advanced statistics, but I doubt there is any significant overall decline in FT% and that it would be linked to the rise of AAU influence.

Utah is currently ranked 340/364 in FT shooting (2024 348th, 2023 218th). This is a Utah problem. Players can still shoot, Smith just isn’t getting the ones that can.

Revenue sharing and NIL are two separate issues. Some people conflate the two because they both involve players getting paid, something that was strictly verboten under the previous system. But you’re right, the next step is revenue sharing and players becoming employees of universities. I believe that’s the end of the line in college athletics…[Read more]

  • That was a big problem here about 5-10 years ago here when Huntley was QB. Would appear ready to run, linemen would start downfield to set up blocks, but he would throw at the last moment resulting in the yellow hanky.

Well, you’re not wrong. As I understand it, what NIL is supposed to do is allow players to capitalize on their popularity and positive name recognition. As you say, what it really has done is turn what was putatively an amateur sport into a professional minor league. I don’t know how the powers that be are ever going to put the genie back in…[Read more]

  • Troy Taylor’s offense seemed to generate an “ineligible receiver downfield” call every few plays. This seemed to really hamstring the offense at times. The O-line was always down field run-blocking when they shouldn’t have been. I associated that problem with RPO offenses in general, and was a little nervous about us running an RPO scheme…[Read more]

  • LOL. It’s better to complain about obvious issues than to be a tool that has nothing original or worthwhile to say. Here’s a recommendation, instead of hanging on my every word, how about you put some original content on this site.

  • Hunter seems to get on fire a few times each month. Hopefully will have a few of those 80% from behind the arc games in the Big12. Most times he misses most of them but does work hard out there which I appreciate.

That epic game against Arizona last season where missed FTs doomed us was crushing in that not only did we eventually go down after…[Read more]

I’m embarrassed someone even brought this up for debate.

    31 TD’s a year vs 10.

Utah adds a solid running back and this team flips a lot of losses into wins.

  • What would you complain about if they made 76% of their free throws. You never have anything positive to say.

What’s ironic is the ‘pro-style’ is becoming more simplified except for the best of qbs. So a college system that takes that long to learn rarely actually gets them ready for the pros. All the rage are the Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Jayden Daniels with ‘playmaking’ abilities. Many offenses are more short passes with occasional deep ball and some…[Read more]

Yes, there is a lot more joking mimicry in CFB (parody). Parity? just teasing 😉

Juco also a good pipeline into your AAA and AA

Was talking to some people the other about this and we compared it to the Major League Baseball Staten

    Majors – BIG10, & SEC
    AAA – Big12, & ACC
    AA – PAC12, MWC, & AAC
A – Sun Belt, Conf USA, MAC
    Rookie league – Everyone else

  • AlohaUte replied to the topic Williams from Tulsa to utah in the forum Football 1 month ago

Maybe, but there is also plenty of talent from the top tier schools who are buried in the depth charts who will transfer to “mid-tier” schools too. The one positive of the transfer portal, amidst of tons of negative, is that we are getting more parody in CFB. Talent is being spread out.

Also, it really comes down to NIL, if Utah can pay…[Read more]

On a bug hunt here. Who started this thread? 🙂

He doesn’t seem to meet the requirements, but the NCAA seems to be handing out eligibility like candy these days, so here’s to hoping.

  • ProudUte replied to the topic Singer 1 more year? in the forum Football 1 month ago

He played in 5 games in 2021 for Arizona. I think the max you can play and still redshirt is 4. So, he may just barely miss getting one more year of eligibility.

Not to 💩 on any of these incoming transfers but it’s wild to see how NIL has completely changed the landscape of college football to where we are going to start being a farming school for the “top tier”, and teams like Tulsa and New Mexico are going to be farming schools for “middle tier” teams like Utah.
