One thing I’ve crabbed about on here before and I’m not sure if I’ve really ever heard anyone else comment on it is our venue. In another post here, someone asked about a “common denominator” through the 4 past coaches that, despite some brief flashes under Krystko, we basically sucked. The Hunty remains a real concern for me, and it’s…[Read more]

My post above: A lot of our players can only do one thing. Lovering and Auser can’t shoot from outside or won’t. Madsen and Madsen are in love with the 3. Little can shoot sometimes. We don’t get to the FT line enough.
If we’re going to suck ass, we might as well tell Lovering to shoot at minimum 15 times per game. This will open up the 3 point…[Read more]

But that’s my problem with Craig Smith. Too many guys are one dimensional on offense, including our best player Gabe Madsen. The Madsen brothers shot a combined 19 3’s last night, made 4. If the 3 isn’t falling, they need to get into the paint and kick back out or score or get to the free throw line. We started Lovering and Auser who haven’t taken…[Read more]

mine are twisted for sure, and it is not from the comments made. Whitt is for a problem, Harlan is his Boss!

Yup, while this has been my knock on Hunter for a couple years now, the reality is the roster has turned over such that the overall level of talent has regressed to his level. The net result is there is no longer a question of whether he should be playing because it’s not like we have better players sitting behind him anymore.
Key stats: 36%…[Read more]

I’m gonna be devil’s advocate here.
Outside of basketball and football, Utah sports are doing great. Our women’s sports are all top 25, skiing is elite, etc. Outside of the two major sports, he is doing great. Let’s look at football and basketball:
1 – Football. This is not Harlan’s anything. Football is 100% on Whitt. We’ve paid him. We’ve…[Read more]

That was the point I was trying to make a few days ago. Someone on here said that basketball sucked because we are totally focused on football which is somehow our ticket to the Big 10. Well, our football team has gone 12-13 over the past two seasons so even they are failing. So Harlan is failing across the board in almost all men’s sports…[Read more]

I thought it was for the quality of food that you got. It surely wasn’t much more, if that, than going out to dinner with the wife.

Hunter works his tail off out there, but for each game he lights it up for a handful of threes, has a few others where his shots are falling and has a high number of turnovers.
(Same goes for a number of players on this team)

I don’t remember ever before seeing an AD issue an apology for comments. He may want to focus more on working “behind the curtain.” It would be a lot safer for him.

I’ll keep that in mind for this upcoming season. $35 seemed “reasonable.”

Well, I went to a football event last year and I liked it. Whitt is obviously a better speaker than Smith and the catered food was pretty good.

Number 7 is why I can’t stand him. It isn’t positive vibes. He is either a liar or myopic.
Not much you can say after beat downs I get it. Don’t say strides though. Maybe point the finer details in why you think defensively the strides are being made.
I think he is looking at the shots not falling and saying Utah loss because ball didn’…[Read more]

I remember when we hired Craig. The initial vibe I got was that he seemed like a phony. He’s real, perhaps overly positive and is trying I guess, but seems like he’s not very good at many facets of his job.

Correct. Hunter Erickson never was and will never be a P4 level guy. Thats reality

Ravenute replied to the topic Another 20+ point loss in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 week ago
Frankly I think his post game comments are a joke. They are so disconnected from reality. Craig is a generally optimistic person which is great but it wears out quickly when you are so optimistic you avoid reality.
