As an LDS person, it bothers me that he cites God as a cover for getting a bag. Even if God did tell him it’s the right thing to do, he doesn’t need to share it as though it’s the only factor. The bag was a factor. I got a bag and felt it was right. That’s all he needs to say.

I don’t think we should stop recruiting LDS athletes. I think the U offers a different experience, that is likely appealing to a lot of LDS athletes. Yeah, God told him to go to BYU. It had nothing to do with the fact that, from several sources, he was offered twice as much NIL as he was getting here 🙄

BYU matched the highest offer, and since he was already living down the road in Mt. Pleasant, he chose BYU.

Focusing on LDS athletes is part of what re-built Utah football from the dumpster fire it had become in the 70s and 80s. Turning our back on those recruits will send us right back to the bottom.

Until this nonsense gets sorted out with contracts and a collective bargaining agreement, they should just have a closed doors scrimmage, then a fan fest to encourage interaction between fans and players. Players gonna jump ship for more money until they are tied to a contract. I’d like a 2 year minimum, but could most likely see a 1 year be most likely.

Hope he stays. He is a class act and loves the program. Wants to play in the NFL and Utah gives him the best chance. I might be wrong but there are still some players that look at the whole picture and not just money.

I have it second hand from Dybantsa’s father that AJ was going to play for the school that paid him the most. There was no other objective or criteria for them in their decision making.

Arizona as well. It seems like every time BYU goes to Arizona, there are issues with very public insults towards BYU and LDS Church in general.
