Have you considered the sunny beaches of Boise?
If nothing else, there are the extremely unusual beaches of the Great Salt Lake which has the added advantages of being within easy driving distance, unlimited brine flies and you can’t sink in the water so you can just throw the kids out there and forget about float devices. -

Bush and Hobby are both closed tomorrow due to the weather, no infrastructure to handle any snow in Houston.

I agree. I am not sure that winning will even help as they would need to really be winning to generate any excitement. The MUSS at the BYU bball game was probably less than a quarter of what we see at football games, which is sad but I get it. The MUSS could fill up a good portion of the Hunty if there was even half or more of what we see at…[Read more]

I like the old style of basketball, but – all things being equal – I’d still watch a game of new-style basketball over a football game.

How can Utah make every home game a hostile environment like the BYU game?
Based on the responses I read here, the answer is “change it over to a football game”.
Let’s face it: There are simply very few of us who like basketball as a sport.

They practically do that already. I have two lower bowl season tickets and they cost me less than a single game ticket for football. Sorry, price is not the issue.

Sorry man. Food options, celebrities, swag and glow sticks don’t mean squat to me. That’s not going to get me to start attending games again, like I did for 40+ years.

I think they should give seats away to football season ticket holders. You’d get people in the seats, and it would build momentum.

You can’t beat the weather in Hawaii. Poipu is my favorite. Jan-March humpback whales and 80 degrees. I’m sitting on the beach in Maui as I make this post. Been here two weeks and the weather and beach have been awesome. T shirt shorts and flip flops is all you need. Sunscreen!!

Present: the players are more athletic and want to shoot the 3’s and handle the ball (over dribble) more. Pick and roll offenses call for switching on defense so you have to be able to switch and guard bigger players taking out smaller skilled players. Much more player oriented.
Past: team basketball with role players setting off the ball picks t…[Read more]

It is certainly arguable that Mason could be taking some more minutes in the guard line, but you hit the nail on the head, we just don’t have that solid guard to anchor the line-up so why not go with the bigger lineups. Our options at guard are really a combination of “pick your poison” and “let’s roll the dice to see who’s hot”.

Winning trumps everything. Parking is fine for small crowds but large crowds is a problem. Bring back the blackout rules for home games. If a certain number of seats aren’t sold the game is blacked out locally. It’s become to easy to sit on the coach and watch the game instead of fighting all the elements plus easy to hit the off button when we…[Read more]

Knell was more worried about mocking the crowd than making his free throws. Hall was irritated because he couldn’t get the slivers out of his butt from sitting on the bench and watching the freshman take over his position.

I agree Holladay. They were being overly aggressive when our bigs had the ball. They were happy with a steal or a foul so to complain after the game is bush league. Always the hypocrites when it comes to the refs. After 1 good year in FB and NIL money to buy a good BB team their fans are back to being whiny a-holes again. It was nice not hearing…[Read more]

I loved the Huntsman Center last year against BYU. I couldn’t make it this year, but I heard it was also a dynamite environment.
Coach Smith and the players were thankful for the turnout and talked about how it impacts winning and how they hope more games can be like that.
RES is always hostile. The Huntsman Center is awesome…when it’s full.…[Read more]

Mason also underutilized and I think his recent game minutes are below his season average, not trending the right way.

Keanu def underutilized (IMO), which is why I’m harping on it.
On the other side, Gabe it could be argued is grossly over utilized. But then you look at Miro & Hunter, and think meh, good to see Mike being increasingly utilized. Beyond him the other guards are a toss up. It does make more sense that Craig is using Wahlin more frequently as a…[Read more]

I’ve seen a lot of players shoot air balls in college and the NBA. It’s obviously rare, but it happens. Props to him for hitting the 3 and making 3/4 free throws w/ all the pressure of the world on his shoulders. I have criticized Erickson for his entire tenure w/ us. He made the clutch plays to win us this game = he deserves nothing but love…[Read more]
