If he plays football at all and is on athletic scholarship at the U, it counts toward the football numbers (see Lohner) which prevents schools from signing up a bunch of golf team football players. But, if the coaches think he’s worth that, i’m all for it.

The reason he’s not rated on 247 (or Rivals for that matter) is because he’s primarily a “lacrosse” player. This guy has been committed to Utah for LAX for a couple of years now.
I like his “size”, and “16 sacks” also looks REAL good. And since his scholarship is for lacrosse, I can’t see any downside to him practicing with the team, in hopes…[Read more]

I’m currently taking a sports law class. It has been very interesting getting my professor’s take on the whole NIL thing. The NCAA had so many chances to put the fire out before it blew up in their face, but they were too greedy, and not just once. This happened time and time again and their status as untouchable eventually eroded. Those greedy…[Read more]

I wonder why he hasn’t gotten more attention. The dude is HUGE. 6 ft 6 and 240 pounds of muscle! He had 16, that’s SIXTEEN sacks in his most recent football season.
I hate the name Ryker as much as the next guy, but that can’t be the reason he isn’t rated on 247

I agree. but when you have rich alumni who confuse their religion with their college, (if BYU was the school for the church, and wanted people to go to BYU, they would say so. lol, Russell M. nelson went to Utah) they give a LOT of money. F*** Ryan Smith. The taxes was one thing but the millions are ridiculous. So yeah, BYU isn’t lacking in the…[Read more]

Honestly we just don’t have any reliable offensive players for both scoring and/or playmaking. The defense is good. They just gotta play good both sides. I miss Kyle Kuzma lol

this article says he’s using the JuCo tactic that Diego Pavia used. But he didn’t play in JuCo. I think the 5 games and/or Devon Dampier relationship would be it. Or he just says he wants 1 more to try and make the NFL or something. Anyways, I hope he does. The receiver core is looking great this year, Otto Tia, Creed Whitmore, and Ryan Davis are…[Read more]

It’s just not clear to me what Craig is running. It seems like Gabe is always 90/10 3 pointers vs shots inside the 3 point line and nearly all 3’s he shoots he appears to be falling backward, to the side and just generally rushing. I’d be frustrated playing with somebody like that. Seems like the offense is “Gabe create something and if you…[Read more]

My two cents on politics.
If I had the same experiences as you, I’d probably think like you do. Maybe I do.
Does anyone really believe the vitriol of politics won’t spread to other topics on the board. If someone takes issue with your political views they may start a witch-hunt on all your posts. I think that happened on the other Ute board. I…[Read more]

If you are going to keep it around, the politics category should be ‘opt in’ not ‘opt out’.

When it was 72-72, twice in a row we gave up offensive boards (where they just out hustled us to the ball) leading to 5 points for the Bearcats. Those were daggers.

I wonder if his 22 shot attempts had anything to do with the fact that he (and his brother) transferred from Cincy. Maybe he was trying to prove something.

There has been a talent gap for years now. With NIL being so out of whack, I honestly think this team is where Utah will be in Hoops unless we get some mystery donor, which I don’t see happening. NIL seems justifiable for football cause it’s a cash cow when schools invest. Gone are the days when you could have a tyrant as a coach, screaming at…[Read more]

I agree, he did shoot 36% from 3, so his eFG is still 54%, which is much better than Ezra at 40%. However it pales in comparison to Keanu, Mike, and Lawson each at 80%. Which (broken record here) Ezra played 27min, was in foul trouble, had a BPM of -5.4 and GmSc of 3.6 compared to Keanu that only played 20min, was not in foul trouble and had a…[Read more]
